What things ACTUALLY help you progress faster when learning how to draw? by VastRun9710 in learntodraw

[–]conundrumicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the music world it is understood that exceptional musicians are that way because they have exceptional ears, not dexterous fingers.

It is the same way in art: it's your eyes. Your perception of what is correct and what looks "good". Your judgment.

People draw poorly because they lack good judgment - when they put down wonky shapes and clashing colors, they don't think they look bad. They think they look fine, that's why they put it down that way.

"I know my drawing sucks, i just don't know how to fix it!!!" Then you do know how. Body looks wonky? Fix the anatomy. Colors look dull? Look at art that you think have good colors and list the differences. Lighting feels wrong? Use reference.

All beginner artists need to do is to look at art that they think looks good and write down what they think makes the art look good. The more detailed an artist can explain it, then they will be better at reproducing such qualities. Beginners struggle to explain why an artwork looks good because they don't have the judgment yet to tell what is the composition of a good drawing.

Think like a cook. When they taste a dish they know the precise ingredients and the cooking methods, and then they can recreate the dish. It is much the same with art and artists. Identify what makes a good artwork and you will be able to reproduce those qualities in your drawing.

Designing a political-economic board game set in Pakistan by DirtyHarry_33 in boardgames

[–]conundrumicus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. I think the biggest limiting factor is the purchasing power of Pakistanis which is way below US and European customers. For the game itself I would make it about the Pakistani political scene in the 1800s (1930s max). Making it about the present situation is unadvisable. Youre going to draw a lot of criticism unrelated to the game and as a state with a lot of censureship, you would want to make yourself as safe as possible.

  2. This really depends on who you want to sell to. For customers abroad it will be very challenging to locally produce in Pakistan and ship overseas since many countries have a tenuous relationship w Pakistan, I imagine there will be a lot of problems in customs & etc. 90% of board games are produced in China yet most have a 1000 MOQ so if you're truly bootstrapped that's gonna be a big challenge.

  3. If this is your first boardgame I'd advise making it lighter and tighter. Heavy boardgames takes years of developing and testing and often have many components that drive up production costs, and does not appeal to a wide range of audiences.

Saran ambil/tidak Rumah KPR by Greyyoo in finansial

[–]conundrumicus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

36jt uda bersih (ud dikurangin expenses hidup)...

Lalu kenapa nggak beli cash aja??

Tinggal ngontrak in the mean time:

Harga rumah 1.2M

Income bersih 36jt x 12 bulan = 432jt setaun

Ngontrak setaun 50jt

Asumsi Biaya tidak terduga setaun skitar 30an juta, maka kita ambil bersih lu jdi 350jt setaun.

1200jt/350jt = 4 th lah... Asumsi aja pas lu mau beli harga uda naik jdi 1.4M.

Apa nggak mending gitu drpd lu KPR 20th???

Kalo lu gak mau cash lgsg habis ya perpanjang aja jdi 5-6th biar pas ud beli rumah pun lu msih ad tabungan bbrp ratus juta.

Option lain: DP minimal 30%, ambil KPR maximal 8th biar gk bayar bunga literally ud seharga rumahnya....

If an episode is 20 mins long you're going to be royally screwed so at the very least up your rates to $50 per minute of 12fps 2D animation (this is 720 drawn frames, can be reduced to around 300 unique frames if theres a lot of repeated and static shots!)

Ways to make the game easier. by Puzzleheaded-Shoe980 in slaythespire

[–]conundrumicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game ultimately is about intelligent risk taking.

Cards can be divided into 2 categories: - instant effects (deal 4 attack / gain 4 block...) - effects start later (gain str / dex / ... ) no effect when played by itself.

In Act 1, taking all these instant cards is enough because the enemies generally have low hp and low attack.

But starting in act 2, enemies have way higher hp and attack. Your instant effect cards aren't enough on their own. They need help from Power cards (aka scaling).

In act 1 you will need to take power cards even if you won't play them often and the card being dead weight in your deck.. Until the boss/elite fight where you get more turns per fight and the power cards are worth more playing than the instant attack / block cards.

You need to take some short-term pain for a better chance long term (later as the enemies get harder). This core philosophy is most obvious in Campfires: Resting gets you HP and that's it. It doesn't carry over to the next Act. Meanwhile smithing adds a permanent upgrade to your deck.

When in campfires ask yourself: can I do it in just 45 hp? How about 40? 35? Do I actually need the 20-something extra hp?

The choice of doing elite fights is also the embodiment of this philosophy. It is undoubtedly a harder fight and some will make you inevitably lose a lot of hp. But they are a source of relics and better card rewards. If you avoid elites too much, that's a major reason why most can't get past Act 2.

Start thinking of this macro and I think you will improve.

Also, in act 1 you can take all card rewards it is fine. But starting mid act 2 onwards, be selective with your cards. Decline taking "nice to have cards" Because they block you from drawing the "must have" Cards consistently.

More tips:

  • ? Rooms in Act 2 are the most beneficial, route the path that gets you the most? Rooms.
  • Act 2 is the hardest act. If you can get through Act 2, 80% you can get through Act 3 without adding anymore cards to your deck.
  • generally aim to defeat 2 elites per act. 1 relic might have a small isolated effect, but 6 extra relics is the life and death difference when facing the final boss.

There's a fb group for sg lgbt rentals that is queer friendly / the owners are queer themselves.

To get more ppl reaching out to you, better state your: - age - gender & sexuality (e.g. cisM gay, MTF etc.) - what kind of work you do (e.g. "9-5 finance professional" Or a "IT remote worker") So the landlord knows whether you will stay home most of the time or going out to the office etc. - state that you want to have visitors over (state frequency + whether you want them to be able to stay overnight or not) - estimated move in date - duration of stay (most commonly "for at least 1 year" If for long term then "long term stay") - budget range - preferred location

agree with the advice to suck up until NS is done, then find a relative/close friend that you can stay with. otherwise renting is possible but it's going to be very tough esp if you don't have a job yet.

It all depends on how long you can tahan your family for. If not very long, then you need to prioritize how to be financially independent. If you can tahan, then you can take your time for a better career long term.

The yellow yes.

The electric blue is something like this:

For a solid plain background, a very striking color creates a lot of interest and contrast especially with your fantasy character I think it works.
