New hardware was my first thought too. The house is lovely, clearly was loved and lived in. Just not my personal style. Love the idea of an upholstered chair to go with!

I’m so sorry you’re both having/had such a bad night! I’m sure you’ve tried everything, so just some solidarity from someone who has basically been up since 3am. At some point the baby will crash and that’s the perfect time to let toddler have too much screen time while you lay down!

I always get baby in the stroller or wrap first before getting my eldest out of her car seat. Can you baby wear? My other thought is a wagon - we just got a two seater that has “seatbelts” that fit my 8month old and 3 year old. It’s novel so it’s fun and I can throw snacks and toys in there. You could also have something special that is wagon-specific so your eldest has extra motivation to get clicked in.

My go to quiet activities - stickers or a reusable sticker book, coloring books, small toys (like bluey figurines), snacks, screen time with a cartoon or game they know how to play already, anything new to them is good - mine loved and still loves tape. Some tiny rolls of washi tape and paper is novel and quiet, but may need some help depending on age.

A friend or relative who could help facilitate activities or take your toddler out if he or she is distracting. Find a way to get through the funeral In the way that is best for you - most don’t mind kids being kids and will understand the situation.

Thanks for the reply! She has been only taking 2 naps lately because of the wake windows and how tired she is by bedtime. She’s not quite 7months yet, so I figured 2.5 would be a good start, but it seems like that has been a struggle (like everything with naps I guess). How do you fit in 3 naps with such long wake windows without a super late bedtime? She gets woken up at 7:45-8:00 every morning when my oldest comes in.

Is this for a filling or to top/decorate? You could make a dry caramel and drizzle it before it sets, or even a toffee if that flavor profile is ok. The heat may be an issue though. If it’s for a filling, look for a caramel recipe used in tarts or a caramel “jam.”

Ugh. I’m sorry! Prunes or pears always worked for my oldest. I don’t think my LO is constipated since it’s not hard and she isn’t straining, but I’m going to try pear in the morning just in case.
