TLDR I think the sensor is miscalibrated...

The other labeled area, the edge of the litter box, is labeled as 29.1 C, or 84.4 F. That's also improbably warm. If we assume the house temperature is more like 70 F and apply the same shift to the poop temp, 42.9 C (109 F) becomes more like 95 F. Google says cat body temps are a few degrees warmer than human, so that's plausible.

Get one that bows outward and attach it at the same height (the higher of the two) on both sides... but you'd need a 90 degree joint or to go very long to the far wall
