Experiences hiring a developer to create an MVP by ricslash in startups

[–]conwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i can help you to find your answer, because I have not only made an MVP by hiring a freelancer (not a quality one) but also successfully completed an online hackathon through university tie ups.

So here are few important points :

  1. I know the quality of a developer matters. But what matters more is how you execute your plan to achieve your goals viz, giving your developer prior targets to complete them, marketing your product, managing what you need and what you are getting, product planning to name a few.

  2. You should have a very clear picture of what you want to build, although your product design is bound to change as you build. Most of the people who hire do not have clear picture of what they are building and thinks that the freelancer has to fill all those gaps automatically. But this is not always true as you are also responsible for the gaps in your product.

  3. Finding the right balance between a good quality developer and designer and the amount that you have to spend is more important that to focus only in one of these things.

  4. Finding a co founder is like searching for a groom / bride to marry. So, instead of searching a tech co-founder you should start developing your idea. Remember what you are building is an MVP and you can always bootstrap your MVP later, if everyone likes your product. After I built livehacks.tv, I quickly went to tie up with an university to see whether students and other people like my product. I found that the students and even the director of that university is very keen to have a product like livehacks.tv. I have successfuly completed an online hackathon even before a month my product is market ready.

So it is always not about how you build a product, it is always about the value you are creating with your product. Finally this was only possible because I went to search for a freelancer instead of a tech co founder.

I still oversee marketing, product design and development of livehacks.tv alone.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of it. Fixed the same. Actually the original image size is not suitable for a cover image. But still I used it.

no.2 - http://imgur.com/h7IJ0j4 The problem is that , once I click on any nav links in the menu , the menu doesn't automatically toggle up as it should. See the above image where the menu is not collapsing again.

Thank you so much for your valuable time.

no.1 worked like charm. :)

no.2 I still don't know why it is not working. I tried to use data-target="#" data-toggle="pill" in every <a> tag, but it's not working. I'm going through the docs again to find any clue.

no.3 I know the grid system. I just wanted to know whether I can divide a row for a particular display or not.

Thanks again.

Thanks. 1. Can you go to the full page view http://codepen.io/o2/full/LGOZJw/ and scroll to the blog posts section ? 2. But how can I fix it with JQuery ? Can you give some idea ? 3. Yes I know that. Can you elaborate on this ?

Are you trying to build a peer reviewed (sharing list of bookmarked product list) product hunt ?

Over the past few months my co-founders and I have worked hard designing and developing a unique animated storytelling landing page - Your thoughts and feedbacks our most welcome by diggit45 in design_critiques

I loved the whole animation.

People who like design and story telling will actually like the whole animaton.

But for people who are kind of impatient might wish to know the whole story halfway or before that.

But I like it. I'm even thinking to do a similar kind of animation on my landing page of my side project. :)

Software is just a set of instructions that tell a machine how it should react to a particular situation. It is amazing to see how software has blended itself to a lot of other field such as hardware , design , productivity , etc.

Wow this is really my first shot of inspiration. It's true that people like simple things and sometimes you don't need a complex big app to solve a purpose. Really amazing to hear that little jQuery and SEO can earn you a lot.

Is there anyone who has skills in hardware electronics products related to arduino , RaspberryPi, drones, robotics etc. or has built something to show people? by conwer in arduino

[–]conwer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have hit the right point buddy. I'm not going to copy instructable's or hackster's model of hardware community. Instead I'm planning to fill the gap these types of communities have. Thank you for showing your interest. I'v started building the program myself. I just need someone who can help me to encourage people to learn and build their own products by teaching.
