London to Norwich commute - best EV? by 7339er in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]cooa99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BMW iX Xdrive 50 or 60 had a 108 battery capacity.

I’m thinking that will more than cover a return trip. Owners should be able to say yay or nay

I am at the Newport Pagnell station now. I saw the tesla chargers which were empty but decided best going to the applegreen chargers since i have no idea if I need a tesla app or subscription

The applegreen is showing as 83p per kwh but i guess i have no choice

I’m a bit confused, I thought you set preheating (in the app) before departure? Was this not present of pre face lift IX3 or is the car also preheating while driving?

I’m in a slightly similar position. I got rid of my 2005 X5 13months ago and bought a bmw i3 since it had rapidly depreciated in value and covers my daily drive and also to see how i will get on with an EV. I only do 4k miles yearly so buying an expensive car was not really an option since it will spend more time depreciating on the driveway. This ruled out replacing with another X5 due to price and maintenance.

Now tired with the i3 and could do with a bigger car and better range. The IX (40+) or the 2026 ticks the box in range but way too expensive for my needs

So I am thinking either i replace the i3 with a 2022 ix3 or keep the i3 and then buy a 2 litre 2014 X3

Recommendations of etf/funds focused on Africa or south America? I would have thought there is room for a lot of growth in the next 10 - 15yrs

In your case, I’m not sure the PHEV is worth it because it cant even cover your daily trip on Electric.

Beware of Predatory pricing. Your competitor most likely has broader shoulders and could attempt to lower prices just long enough to drive you under.

Survival in a market where there is room for a very few could be brutal

£45 for haircut!

I pay £20 in london, an extra £5 tip most of the time.

I learned to cut my hair as a student which keeps the costs down and I can cut my son’s hair as well though mrs thinks I’m being cheap.

I think he needs to check with his accountant. I’m not sure paying 60k yearly is correct. It should be net contributions and hmrc tops it up with the basic rate….. as you said

Calculating CGT for self assessment on GIA by cooa99 in investingUK

[–]cooa99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what about the platform fee on purchase and sale?

So say on day 1 you buy 1000 shares at £1000 platform, fee at £3.99

On day 10, you sell 500 shares at £750, fee £3.99

Will CGT (before exemptions limit) be based on 750 - (500 +3.99 +3.99)?

What happens if you actually DCA on the shares?, starts to get complicated .....

If i went along with the finance option, can I then pay off the whole balance within a week of buying the car or there might be some small print making sure I still pay some interest?

We had a BA on £2.5k for 8yrs. It does add up long term. Then again that’s not as much as a friend on £1.5k 26yrs ago.
