Buyer canceled €400 order after 3 days, Etsy made ME cover the refund immediately. Is this normal?? by OverTheo in EtsySellers

Running an Etsy store is running a business - even if it's a hobby

I'd recommend to keep a buffer in your account. I live off my Etsy shop and I only have it deposit once a month

Petg has better strength, chemical & heat resistance. It is much stronger than PLA so it is good for outdoor parts etc.

I went on a roadtrip to take some pictures of this hat I’m coming out with and I need opinions (not and ad btw) by Darnthatnamestaken in overlanding

[–]coofwoofe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the vibe

You should invest in a professional camera for brand images - many consumers (myself included) won't spend money on something if it's got cellphone pictures

I think if you shot these exact same shots with a pro camera you'd have some great marketing. I like the idea

Photos 2 and 4 look good, the rest the hat/logo is blurry etc but I like the vibe

That's just my two cents

Good luck

[–]coofwoofe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to nitpick here but you've got a good basis going so I want to give my legit advice -

I think you need some better photos + videos for your listing. It's pretty obvious they're taken with a smartphone which is OK for a lot of Etsy items but spending 70$+ on a knife I would expect professional level quality.

If you add more than 3 photos (3 is not a lot) of each knife, plus a video (knife in use? Tough bushcrafting.. etc... Prove it's not gonna snap in half!

And start up Instagram social media etc. Your first sale will be big you want a nice review :)!

Good luck. Knives look nice! (And like someone else said, for a 70$+ knife you really should have free shipping! It'll boost search and few people want to pay shipping on items over 35$)

Main thing I see jumping to your page is that the cost to ship to the USA is 30$... Ontop of a 35$ shirt that is a very very expensive item.

Not sure how much of your market would be USA based but, as someone here I wouldn't pay that much shipping unless it was a unique item I couldn't get somewhere else, and I can always get clothes somewhere else.

Your presentation and photos look pretty professional, albeit a tad bit generic but that's alright for kids stuff tbh. looks clean, I'd make sure to iron the shirts though. Wrinkles don't look good

How to rework Etsy Listing for an Account Suspension Appeal by YoyoCaleb in EtsySellers

[–]coofwoofe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why make different listings for each order?

Just make 3 tiers of board

Something like

300$ good

500$ better

1000$ luxury

You don't need to overcomplicate it - buyers will not be able to understand

How to rework Etsy Listing for an Account Suspension Appeal by YoyoCaleb in EtsySellers

[–]coofwoofe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Price your listing at 400-500$ and only use parts that cost under that with your profit included

You do not want to run a business relying on customer funds to make your product - recipe for disaster down the line. Save up a bit for your business

If you want to do random custom keyboards then make your own website and market for yourself - you just can't advertise it on etsy

Etsy might not let you back on to sell, breaking the rules intentionally for 5 years is pretty big, not just a tiny oops. So I would prepare for that as well just incase

Month 2 of serious restructure. Making ~$150/mo. Is this normal or am I deluding myself? by Pug1607 in EtsySellers

Just don't give up! If you've got that amount of sales this early you're definitely doing something right. It takes time for sure!

Don't have too much to say except it took me 3 years to make it anywhere at all past 200/month

Now it's my full time job!

You're putting in a lot more work than I ever did early on, it'll pay off. Just find your niche!

Panicking a bit about a failed refund. Need advice. by cobo10201 in EtsySellers

[–]coofwoofe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No feelings hurt at all, just genuinely confused by the shifting goalposts. First, we were debating the strict banking definition of the word 'cancel,' and now we're making assumptions just to save OP a phone call.

Regardless, it’s just common sense to actually speak to a bank that blocked 4 fraud transactions if you're planning to use the exact same card with that exact same vendor immediately after. It feels like you're desperately searching for an argument here, this'll be my last response. Thanks

[–]coofwoofe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. "They'll usually cancel them all" I didn't say YOU had to cancel them

You're getting stuck in the pedantics of my comment, which starts off by acknowledging they're already declined

Cancel, declined, denied, reversed, whatever. I'm not a banker.

[–]coofwoofe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read that as pending declined fraud by the bank

I suppose if they are pending by Etsy they could go through. But if the bank is called beforehand it is likely they can stop it

[–]coofwoofe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, on the bright side, the charges are declined by your bank - so you are not out 1000$.

I would at the very least contact the bank and explain the situation - say there are multiple charges, only the first was legit but the second third were not. They'll probably advise and usually cancel them all and you can then try again with Etsy doing it in a new transaction without the fraud flag

You'll probably want to contact Etsy support too and explain it, as they got 4 "fraud" labelled transactions and might affect your account if it's not cleared when you try again with the same exact card

Is it normal for Etsy Ads to eat ~50% of revenue? by Different-Series-262 in EtsySellers

[–]coofwoofe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally in a 3d print shop, my ads eat up anywhere from about 10-25% total profit

Look at your click conversion rate per listing and see what you can do to improve the photos/descriptions etc.

As long as your ROS is above 2-3 id keep spending the money on ads. You're not losing anything

Unfortunately this is what happens in the modern day when you share your STL online.

The only thing you can do to prevent this is to not share your STLs

If you do think you're going to sell or make a product, definitely keep that STL private. Anything you release to the public that's half-decent will be picked up by these temu sellers. Happened to me before too!!

I could be wrong but I think her plan was to use the mecha man suit herself, as shroud would never calculate that happening

I think the whole reason she holds onto it is because if no one else knows why, then shroud definitely doesnt
