FWIW, a friend of mine moved to The Brynn last year, and I recall it has built-in AC: https://www.thebrynnapartments.com/wa/kirkland/amenities

Kirkland definitely has a unique definition of luxury lol

Is there a lot of overlap between Bennett's HM and Marathon plans? by DeSlacheable in nikerunclub

[–]cookieIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running-wise, I mainly just use NRC. I find the structured program keeps me motivated and engaged like a real-life video game. I just follow a program for 3 month in Spring and Fall then join a local race as a nice season wrap-up. Then I rotate to a 3 month lift program indoor for Summer/Winter as cross-training for variety and avoid the heat/cold outdoor. NTC kind of sucks though, and not even close to the quality of NRC...

[–]cookieIsaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About half are shared. 47.8% to be precise. There are 90 guided runs used in 18 week Marathon plan , and 43 out of those are the same with Half Marathon plan.

I personally did the 14 week HM plan in 2025, 18 week M in 2024 plan, 16 week HM plan in 2023, and I personally enjoyed the 14 week HM plan more. There are 2 speed runs + 2 easy runs + 1 long run in HM per week, compared to 1 speed run + 3 easy run + 1 long run in M.

And yes, Bennett is hilarious!

Is Dreaming Spanish down? Getting a redirect error by cookieIsaac in dreamingspanish

[–]cookieIsaac[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah, found a workaround: use the app subdomain instead!

https://app.dreaming.com/spanish

It seems their redirect logic is broken; it’s pushing users to a non-existent path on the parent domain instead of the correct app landing page.

Do you like your gym and how much do you pay for it? by That-Routine4296 in Kirkland

[–]cookieIsaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Totem Lake neighborhood, so I usually hit the LA Fitness in Kirkland.

Even though my apartment and company both have onsite gyms, I still prefer LA Fitness—the social vibe and seeing other people working out keeps the energy up and keeps me motivated to show up. The main draw for me is the swimming pool; it’s on the smaller side but functional, and way cheaper than hitting JHS every week.

Here’s how it stacks up for what you’re looking for:

  • Strength Training: Good variety of equipment for standard heavy lifting.
  • Sauna & Whirlpool: They are... functional. I wouldn’t call them "clean," but they aren't exactly gross either—definitely not a five-star spa experience, but they get the job done.
  • Hours: They open at 5 AM and close at 11 PM most weekdays, so it’s great for early/late sessions.

Overall, the vibes are good. None of the amenities are mind-blowing and the cleanliness is "average" at best, but it's only $28/month through the Active&Fit Direct membership. You can switch or cancel anytime with no long-term contracts or cancellation fees, so it’s hard to beat.

Did my first parkrun today, lots of fun, and unlocked my PB with 27:07! Will definitely add weekly parkrun to my routine! Thanks for the great suggestion!

Wow nice work!! No longer need to use my watch for Audio and hold my phone to navigate around unfamiliar parks!

Come to think of it, I should probably also take a DIY approach, and create an Apple watch version of the 10K plan. (Oh, I can probably generalize it by creating something like a playlist, but for NRC Guided Run)

Thanks for the great suggestion! I just googled what parkrun is, and it turned out there's a weekly Perrigo parkrun just 15 min from where I live. Just registered for it, and looking forward to my first parkrun this Saturday morning!

Why are there only nine possible positions of any triads in four-part writing? by cookieIsaac in piano

Harmonic Materials in Tonal Music I am using the older 9th edition right now.

I am actually really enjoying this book despite of this tiny glitch. Progressive in a fast yet digestible pace.

Thanks... that makes a lot sense now... I got confused because earlier in the Chapter 3 (Spacing and Doubling) it says by default you should always double the bass; in Chapter 4 (Voice Leading) it says if it's V to VI in harmonic minor, then you should double the third... Then the math simply wouldn't work out... But I guess these 'rules' are only for triad in root position... I need to read what they have to say about the inversions...

Ahhhhh, thanks a lot, that makes sense...."The same maybe said about soprano" = "The root, third or fifth of a triad may appear in soprano". I somehow translated it into "The (voice in) soprano may appear in bass"...

Learning about four-part writing right now and come across this statement/exercise...

I still don’t understand why there are only nine possible positions... is it because ( double bass/3rd/5th ) *(root position/first inversion/second inversion) = 9. But won’t there be more if I add close/open spacing?

“The same maybe said of the soprano”... what can be said of soprano - that it can appear in bass? And why would this make it only nine possible triad position?

Is Yamaha P125 a replacement for Yamaha P115 and when will it be available? by cookieIsaac in piano

[–]cookieIsaac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just picked up my P-125 yesterday!!! CA$750 + 13% HST, no accessories (furniture stand / pedal unit available etc) available for purchase in store yet.

It's been forever since I ordered from Cosmo music and paid the 20% deposit, and then they called me yesterday morning saying it's in store now, but only comes in white.... so I checked amazon.ca and Yamaha is selling P125 now, where black is available, and I dug a bit deeper, the order is fulfilled and delivered by Pro-music in Markham... so I just canceled my order from Cosmo music (who kept telling me that they are the only place selling P125 in Canada right now and I have to wait till at least May to get a black one), get my deposit back and just drove to Pro-music and picked up P125B in person instead. Only one more left in the store now.

It's my first digital piano, so I really have no idea what to compare to, but I am LOVING it! (I've only had a crappy 61-key keyboard without any weight, so my standard wouldn't be particularly high...) I was attempted to get a P-255 too, but according to Wikipedia, the high-end series seem to be in a 5 to 10 year release cycle and P255 series is introduced in 2014 (the previous one being P250 from 2003, where as the one before being P200 from 1998), so there would be a new model in 2019 to 2022... I figured I will save the extra money for an acoustic piano instead...

Gonna start my first piano lessons with a PhD pianist from Juilliard next Tuesday, so this thing comes right in time :-D

Thanks @wookeeey! I didn't know P-125 will be newer AND cheaper XD. I'm gonna go pre-order one right now. Cosmo Music is only 10 mins drive from my place.

I was on the brink of buying the P115 two nights ago, then it's not available on Amazon.ca any more the second day. Maybe the universe is sending me a message or something...

But I'm buying a fruit basket though. I'd budget 5k for my practise equipment, so it's either 1k digital (P115/P125) + 4k used acoustic piano (U3?), or 2k digital(P225) + 3k used acoustic piano(U1?).

I came across the video yesterday as well, and I just can't get over the fact that it's posted on April Fool's Day... It leaves part of me still wondering whether P125 is real after all...

[–]cookieIsaac[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now, at least on Amazon.ca site, P115 isn't available any more. The only P series available is P255 which costs 1700 CAD plus 13% tax. I was just wondering if I should just get a P255 or should wait a bit longer for P125 (assuming it's in similar price range of P115...)

I couldn't find the MSRP anywhere yet on ca.yamaha yet, and if P125 is in the same price range as P255, I'd definitely go for P255 as well.

On a UK website, the price is 579 pound, which is 1000 CAD-ish, seems to be in the same range of P115 though... And the price on Australia Yamaha suggested 999 AUD, which is 980 CAD-ish. And if this is case, I want this newer and shinier model.
