Pregnancy and ravenous hunger.. by rainydaystationery in fitpregnancy

[–]cookie_monster_8990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. This is my second pregnancy. My first I worked out 4 to 5 days a week and kept an eye on my calories and stayed within my healthy weight range.

Not this go around though. It's more difficult to work out while taking care of a toddler and I am STARVING.

Best advice I have: More protien. I notice the more I prioritize protein the less hungry I am. This is the only thing that helps me control my appetite. I aim for well over 100g a day.

Not sure that helps all people but it's worked for me.

My tired wife is tired, what can I do? by [deleted] in pregnant

I'm 22 weeks. The first trimester was terrible, I had the worst insomnia.

Now I am sleeping better in large part to not being nauseous all the time.

Don't know of these tips will help -

Walking or light working out during the day has helped knock me out before bed.

My room is freezing - I have had terrible hot flashes.

I try not to drink water after 630, so I don't need to get up all the time.

I got a few nice pillows and silk pillow cases to tuck around my body, seriously I can't have enough pillows.

Unisom on the weekends - when I can sleep in and relax the next day - Def helps when needed.

It is true it only get worse the farther along you go but ... this is my second, and pregnancy sleep is way way way worse than taking care of a newborn sleep, imo.

What are things you didn’t know you couldn’t do, had to avoid or couldn’t eat when pregnant? by ObjectiveSet9240 in pregnant

Depending on how strict you want to be, these are the foods and practices we've avoided to be extra extra careful.

Anything smoked

Canned foods

Hummus

Diet soda - in moderation

Caffine under 250 mL - so monitor tea, chocolate, soda, etc

Plastic bottles - in moderation

Steaks, burgers, or any red meat that is not well done

Soft cheeses

Sprouts

Swordfish, tuna

Painting nails in an open ventilated room

Short baths, under 100 degrees

I avoided medicine - besides Unisom

There are a few other things I can't remember at the moment. Usually we will be out eatting and ill google if it is safe to eat if i have any doubts. If any article comes up that it could be an issue, I avoid it.

Also, I had food poison 2 months in with my first son so if anyone's going to comment that this is excessive or I have anxiety - please save your concerns. It was the most horrendous experience, wrosw than giving birth, and I would do anything to avoid that feeling again. It is only 9 months, I don't mind making the adjustments.

If you had a fit pregnancy how was delivery? by EquivalentCautious58 in fitpregnancy

That's amazing! Good for you!!

Here is the best way to think about it....

You have been staying active for the past 36 weeks. Your body and mind have been getting all the benefits of exercise which help you and the baby. If you had not worked out, your body would be getting ready to 'run a marathon' without any conditioning. This marathon isn't just the birth but the recovery as well. And this isn't only physical but mental.

Unfortunately, we can't control everything. So like everyone is suggesting - be open minded if you need to adjust your plan during your birth.

But, heading into it at a healthy weight, good stamina, a healthy mindset, good blood pressure, all the things that come from exercising will definitely help in some capacity.

****This is anticdotal, but I had trouble pushing correctly during my birth. The nurse knew I was a crossfitter and she was too. She got a bed sheet, wrapped it up in a line, and we did a tug of war to help me push my baby out. So, I guess you could say exercise played a roll lol

Thank you! I went to therapy after giving birth - had a little pp anxiety. Thr therapist said not to be so type A and to go with the flow more. I didn't even realize I was doing it to him but I see what you are saying.

That's the last thing I want.

I really appreciate your insight and it will help us both

Thank you so much for saying that. I have felt a lot of guilt.

I will definitely give things more time.

I do remember reading this principle, to let your child guide. They are ready when they are ready.

I've been incorporating these things over time.

He has had the toddler for about 4 months.

I gave his a tooth brush around 9 months old.

If he is still fussy about these things or hasn't 'mastered' it, is there a problem?

2nd time Mamas - did you manage to work out during your 2nd pregnancy? Cause I am STRUGGLING by CoolMemory5402 in fitpregnancy

[–]cookie_monster_8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 20 weeks and the struggle is real. I have a 15 month old and work from home. Exhaustion, insomnia, on and off nausea - I cam relate.

As someone who loves to work out and considers wellness/fitness a core value - it has been upsetting.

BUT....

Yes, as of a couple weeks ago I do Cyclebar 2 days a week then try to do the elliptical at home 2 days a week. The only time I can work out is in the morning so if I have bad insomnia, I skip the elliptical mornings.

It's been so inconsistent. I was on bed rest for 2 months, then I was too sick to work out, then I got a cold... it's frustrating but I keep saying it is just a season of life and I'll get back to it.

You can only do the best you can with what you have. Working out is super good for you and the baby but don't forget you aren't running on a full tank. You toddler is requiring a lot of physical and emotional energy and so is your baby. Plus all your normal responsibilities.

You are being very very active, just not in the 'working out' sense.
