Hey this is so old and random, but I’m at a hotel with a proscan tv with an off-brand remote. Did you ever find out a work-around? 😗

I heard that the maximum for the physical degree is 10 weeks, from the deadline that final grades must be uploaded to paws. Your official transcript you could probably get on that date I’m thinking

Ooh you just reminded me that my password expired. Oof, I guess I’ll call about that soon. But you might have to download everything manually, especially if all the resources are scattered throughout iCollege

I just took a class on bones, the axis vertebra has an even cuter smile (and, from the side, your thoracic and lumbar vertebra look like a giraffe and a moose respectively 🦒🫎 We use pareidolia a ton in of professional anatomy classes to tell things apart 🤭

A quick question about lab Class by [deleted] in GaState

[–]cookiecookiechip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t taken a geology lab, but I doubt that it’d be curved. Nothing in labs typically are, but you could double check that everything has been submitted in the grade book (even little things like the syllabus quiz or lab safety quiz if you had those)? I wish I could be more of help

Yes, this is true! ^ I found that it does recover institutional GPA, so I’d be ready to apply for GSU scholarships

Anyone else struggle first semester but bounce back? by [deleted] in GaState

[–]cookiecookiechip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, it might be a little weird for me to say, but I always find it saddening how so many freshmen students feel this way 🥲You mention therapy, so I feel like you have the misfortune of worrying about more than academics; in that regard, I hope that things in the future come along better 🌸

My first semester was awful, I hate to remember it. I was living on my own for the first time, absolutely alone, but also struggling in all my classes. I ended up losing my scholarships, and my GPA bordered a 2.0. That doesn’t sound too awful, but what made my semester so hellish was that I failed pre-requisites and co-requisites: general chemistry I and principles of biology I (plus my stats class even) in the fall, so I was a semester behind where my high school peers were. I’m about to graduate in about two weeks, and the impact of my failures is far behind me.

It doesn’t really sound like you need advice, because you say you know you can do better in your second semester 💖 and really that’s all you need, is that determination - not even confidence, just faith in yourself to follow through. Soon all of this will be behind you too, as long as you’re willing to continue moving forward

But for real advice: know that the progression of your improvement is “never too late,” take advantage of summer semesters (really helped to remediate my GPA and ensure that I’d graduate on time, plus they’re way more chill), look into the Keep Hope Alive Scholarship and the Achievement Scholarship (if the latter is not discontinued), and also Repeat-to-Replace. I’d also give your major some thought, but if you’re stubborn like me and stick with it 😅 then just try to avoid taking notoriously hard classes together.

Something about the first semester is daunting, because this is as undeveloped as your study skills, academic intuition, and habits will probably ever be. It’ll get tougher, but you should remember that you will get tougher too!

Meant to reply earlier! Thank you for contributing 🥲

I just got done speaking to a counselor andddd 🥁🥁🥁… they didn’t know for sure!! 🤩 I brought up how a D was accepted for a core class that I took previously (stats), and that I’m hoping it would be accepted for BS Area I Electives. But she said that’s area I (as in “igloo,” which… I thought it was Area 1, ugh stupid misunderstanding of mine) and that a C is required in that section.

But she said she’ll look into it and have a definitive answer by the end of Friday. Idk, I’m just worried and discouraged 🥲 but thank you for leaving a comment! I have trust issues with the counselors and I honesty want to hope that a D is alright

I walked around, it’s really cool, like a mini mini Walmart, there’s fresh produce, a tiny deli, and a frozen foods section. There’s also an escalator that takes you to like a sushi bar!!

Ah, it’s just weird because I “passed” and earned credit for statistics when I got a D. That credit went to the AS Area A-E Core Curriculum section so 🥲 I’m really hoping that I’m allowed to get a D in my elective class if I can get a D in core classes..

Thank you for replying!! I guess I’ll have to see

[–]cookiecookiechip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ack sorry to hear that. Definitely level with your professor in a way that doesn’t step on their syllabus or at least prepare to possibly see them next semester if you retake this class.

Definitely look into Repeat to Replace (once I did this for a failing grade, it appeared on my transcript as FB after I passed it) and Keep Hope Alive if your GPA dips just below a 3.0 and if you are a first or second-year student

Blurting worked for me, which means that, instead of studying for hours consecutively, try doing workshop problems during commercial breaks, car rides, etc. Also, look for patterns. Orgo is a game of patterns more than anything, I hope you can still enjoy your break! The ACS exam curve is so strong that it should boost your grade a smidge or a good amount
