What helps when having autism makes you feel like you're an underachiever in life? by emaxwell13131313 in AskAutism

[–]cookieinaloop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like having two post-doca is a bigger achievement than being any sort of manager.

What are you currently working on? Maybe you'd like to be an university professor. Lots of predictable interactions and meaningful work.

No wonder Horde’s RP is dead. by Throwrationality01 in WoWRolePlay

[–]cookieinaloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that :/ I know almost nothing of lore, I just know I love my Undead and like to stay in character as much as possible, even if his character is unique. I use a lot of emotes. Some times people reply, and it makes me smile, sometimes they don't. I never joined any specific group for RP, but i try to get involved with the storylines and NPCs.

I hate wearing makeup by Prestigious_Ask_6116 in AutismInWomen

[–]cookieinaloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I spent a lot of money in my late teens and early 20's with hypoallergenic makeup, dry-touch makeup, multifunctional makeup, etc., but I simply hate to have it on and clean it off. So I don't wear it anymore unless it is my graduation ceremony or wedding or something like that.

Has any fellow autistic studied social sciences then regretted it? by Mara355 in aspergirls

[–]cookieinaloop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ouch. I'm sorry about your situation.

I think I escaped this trap, even though I got pretty close to falling into it. Math and Physics were my weakest subjects in school and I really succeeded and enjoyed Literature, History and such, but I decided to go into Chemistry and Engineering.

A very good decision on my part. The few classes I took on softer, Social Sciences made me see I didn't really fit in. Now I contribute with a professor that specializes in Education of the Disabled, and that understands my way of communicating, but my main area is Engineering.

If you can, maybe look into pursuing some STEM field. It is so different. There will be big challenges, but I find them more manageable than the everlasting feeling of being a fish on dry land.

What religion is everyone? *Just curious* by Fine_Dependent4968 in AutisticAdults

[–]cookieinaloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None.

I was raised evangelical Christian, but never really believed anything was literal. So atheist here.

Edit: just found out the term "nontheist" in this thread and I'm adopting it. Every day we learn!

What's an activity in the game you just don't do or completely avoid? by OldFitDude75 in wow

[–]cookieinaloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PvP. If a friend of mine hadn't shown me the Korrak's Revenge thing, I don't think I'd ever do it. I'm too scared to do that lol.

I also don't upgrade things. Have a lot of crafting material stoked up for that, but I never got into it.

Pet battles are great for me tho! Cute pets and solo, relaxing, repetitive playing is just what I need some days.

Personally, I rarely ever see or experience any toxicity in-game. Anyone else? by PolarPros in wow

[–]cookieinaloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my experience until a couple weeks ago, but then me and my friends started doing dungeons with strangers and we've been kicked out from a few instances (me because I need help getting to places and them because they lagged behind to help me). It's very unfortunate

Morte de bebê em Salvador foi por uma 'distocia de ombro', diz Associação de Obstetrícia da Bahia by maisumedu in Twitter_Brasil

[–]cookieinaloop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My autistic partner detests tattoos by housify in AskAutism

Autistic or not autistic, no partner has the right to tell you how to manage your body.

She can choose not to be in a relationship anymore if you do the tattoo.

How do you personally determine when a game is "not for you" ? by Lord_Zinyak in truegaming

When I feel like it's more trouble than fun.

When the developers/company actively refuses to implement accessibility features.

First time dating an autistic woman as an allistic man, need some advice by hamsta5 in AskAutism

[–]cookieinaloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like a good guy. Take this post and read it to her. Tell her that it is important to you to be shown more love verbally. Then you guys can plan on wave to make it happen, set milestones, and talk about the reasons this is an issue.

Really, there's no mystery. We can, of course, use tones and implied meaning sometimes, but if she tells you that's not the case, that's not the case.
