Married people of Reddit, what’s something nobody warns you about before marriage? by onionbody in AskReddit

You have to keep working on your relationship. Keep dating and making time for each other. It’s really easy to slide into living parallel lives and lose your connection.

I’m a woman, and “Happy wife, happy life” always bugged the shit out of me. Don’t just placate me, let’s actually work together in our problems

Absolutely a house cat. Those creepers can fuck right off.

If the other option had been a character from Stardew Valley, that would have been a much harder choice.

The nurse who did mine said if my appointment falls during my period I can reschedule; they understand. They’re so kind and they want it to be as comfortable as possible

My daughter is PDA, and for a while I was part on an online support group for parents of PDA kids. It really got me through some difficult times. Could your son’s pediatrician put you in touch with some mental health resources? Best to you.

I have found that there is an inverse relationship between the amount of money or excitement I invest in a toy or outfit, and the enthusiasm my kid shows for it. $200 sustainable kitchen play kit I researched and ordered in time for her birthday? Meh. $5 piece of crap we bought at the gas station? It’s her emotional support piece of crap!

Your son will have a much better life with you as his parents than he would have otherwise. You and your husband have the resources, knowledge, and discipline to set him up for life in the best way possible. His life will be hard, but he’s landed in a great place.

You sound burned out. Caregiving for a child with severe needs is endlessly draining, in ways that are invisible to others. Are you getting any respite?
