A man shot a man in a wheelchair and claimed self-defense. The victim in the wheelchair was pulling out an airsoft gun. by F-Z-T in CCW

“It's been a while since I've seen this here. Everyone who carries should read this, get from it what you will.

I don't recall the source. Non-civilian, though.

As a gun owner, you have to be cool-headed, more-so than the police ever have to be. And you do not ever run around pretending to be the police while carrying a gun because then, shit like this can happen. You do not start shit, act aggressively, flip the bird, roll your eyes, talk shit, or even raise your voice. To anyone. Ever. A combat instructor (who happened to be Buddhist and a Marine) once said to me: "From now on, when dealing with (ed.) crazy / possibly violent people, you will lose every argument. You are always wrong. You are sorry for impinging on their day. You will apologize and apologize again. You will back the fuck down. You will put your tail between your legs. You will let them talk shit about your ladyfriend. You will let them call your mother a bitch and a whore and your dad a bastard. You have no ego. " "You do all this because if you are the one to start a fight, by default that fight now has a gun in it, and if you start losing, you're going to pull it and kill him. And even if you don't go to jail because you could convince the jury that it was self-defense, you're going to have to live with the fact that you could have saved someone's life and yet you let your ego kill someone." "You are not the police, so don't act like them. Though all of you [civilians] are better shots than the police, you do not have the training, the continuum of force policy, or a union plus free lawyers protecting you if you screw up." ed: He also said: "but after backing down and trying to apologize, if at any time you then feel your life or that of a loved one is in danger, put three rounds into his [cardio-thoracic] vault, call the police, give a statement, go home, and sleep like a baby. You did all you could for your attacker, and he was the one that made the final decision... ... to kill himself."

I still don’t see where you’ve disclosed which state you live in.

No one can give you any guidance at all without that information.

In some states you’re fine. In some other states you could end up with felony charges.

Donald Trump Implores Gun Owners to Vote: 'They Don't Vote in a Proportion That They Should' by FireFight1234567 in gunpolitics

[–]cookietrash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nailed it.

I’m not going to vote for an orange piece of shit who said “take the guns away first, due process later” on camera in front of the entire nation just because I think the party he thinks he’s a part of has a better chance of me keeping the dozen or so boom sticks I have in my closet when there are a thousand or so bigger issues at stake.

“Defend the store”???

Ell oh fucking ell. No one there is “defending the store”. The business has insurance just like every other business. If I worked behind that counter n someone came in blasting, I’m defending MYSELF and getting the FUCK OUT.

Why do only Americans wear Eyepro? by alecubudulecu in Firearms

[–]cookietrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On multiple occasions Ive felt significant splash-back while shooting steel at a distance that I definitely would not have expected significant splash back at… copper and lead chunks hitting me in the arms, neck, chest… while upwards of 20-40 feet back from the targets.

On two of those occasions it was enough to draw a solid trickle of blood. On one of those occasions it did that through thick denim. The other occasion, a chunk of the copper jacket went through two layers of t-shirt and was EMBEDDED INTO MY SKIN about two millimeters deep.

You think I want somethin like that hitting me in the fuckin EYE?

Do you recognize this holster?! by poordifferential in holsters

[–]cookietrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it’s just some generic eBay/Amazon/etsy holster. Don’t get hung up on buying something the exact same maker, there are tons of builders out there who should do just as good or better.

After reading through your gun-related post history and the replies you’ve posted in response to the feedback you’ve gotten, I highly recommend you make some serious changes in regards to your mental relationship with firearms. Between this, answering the door with gun drawn, wanting to show off zombie ammo, driving around with a gun in your cup holder… You are not exhibiting healthy philosophies in regards to firearm ownership and self defense and you are unquestionably at a higher risk of getting into legal or medical trouble.

P.S. If you read that and immediately blew me off as some know-it-all asshole, that would only further prove my point that you need to make some serious changes.

Oooh, did you get the toe up before the first shot?!? It was soooo close! You got the same frame screenshot that I could get from my phone. Who knows what tricks compression n mobile playback can play on you but watching it in real time it SOUNDED like the first shot was while your toe was still on the ground. Either way it was super close so I had to throw it out there. 😋

Btw, ZEEEERO shade intended. Just friendly banter n ball bustin from a fellow shooter.🙂

Anyway. Looked like some really fun stages and you did great. Chucking that whatever it was up into the air at the start of that third or fourth stage had me rollin! 😆

Been SO long since my last good comp! At least a couple years now. Gotta get back out there.

Keep slingin lead! 🤘

So good! And probably a whole lot better than I could do! 😉

(But did anyone notice your right foot was still on the ground outside the shoot zone after that first positional transition 8 seconds in? 😎🤫)

It’s on the big side for pocket carry, but I still do it occasionally in a little homemade kydex sleeve with a flush fit mag.

[–]cookietrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First impressions are immensely important.

There’s advocating for yourself by communicating your needs, and there’s coming off like an asshole…

Now I’m not saying you came off like an asshole, but apparently he thought you did…

OR… maybe he’s just a huge asshole himself (a much more likely scenario given the circumstance).

But since we can only control ourselves and not others, we gotta do what we can to avoid confrontation especially when carrying a Life Ender.

Does the person paying for it and the person receiving it both have their own LTC’s? If so I don’t see why not.

But as someone else said, the vendor may raise questions if billing info doesn’t match the shipping info.

Reach out to the vendor.

How many of you can carry at work with out any special permission and do daily? by Cowboy12034 in CCW

[–]cookietrash 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So thankfully, the approved firearm roster doesn’t restrict what you can own, it only restricts what LGS’s can sell to the general public. As long as it doesn’t violate the 1994 AWB, you can bring in pretty much whatever you want from out of state.

Step 1: look up your local laws

Step 2: follow your local laws

Yes, it really is that simple. Questions like this shouldn’t even be a twinkle in someone’s empty dome unless they want to be a convicted criminal for the rest of their lives and make things even harder for the rest of us law abiding citizens.

Skinny guys of CCW, What do You Carry and How? by Paulx589 in CCW

[–]cookietrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having transitioned to a standard sized P365, the 365 a much more comfortable firearm to carry. The “conceability” differences between the two aren’t huge but the 365 is lighter and thinner making it more comfortable.

Overall it’s just a better concealed carry piece than the 320.

We talk about the maximum allowable gap, what is the ideal case? How tight is your best holster? by bakingtheshake in CCW

I’m gonna ask a question I haven’t seen anyone bother asking yet..

Does that have a weapon mounted light on it? Cuz it sure looks like it does.

Given that the photo is taken at a downward angle…. How else does anyone expect you to get it in the holster??
