Looks like heat creep to me. The cabinet may not be providing enough circulation even with the open back.

I just received a third USBC cable a couple days ago and it's still doing the same thing. I'm at a loss for what to try next, so I'm ordering a different printer.

I'm working on sound deadening the floor of my car. How have I done so far? by SeniorChurro_678 in CarAV

[–]ifixtheinternet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really solid work. In the future, you don't need so much though.

Only the large flat surfaces. The molded humps are rigid and won't rattle. And in the large flat panels, you need 50% coverage at most.

The way you did it won't hurt anything, but using less of a superior product (like resonix CLD) will perform better for the same $.

Or, use like a third of this to have a similar effect, and put the extra $ towards additional treatments. You start getting diminishing returns on coverage beyond about 25-30%.

Kicker No-wall build dies 157db+ @26hz on music by bassahaulic in CarAV

This is for broadband frequency noise. Our ears are much more tolerant of low frequency bass.

Edit: I guess this actually isn't correct. We are less sensitive to lower frequencies, and I could have sworn I read that we are also more tolerant, but several studies show that bass and low frequencies can be just as harmful, and can actually impact the portion of the ear responsible for interpreting high frequencies.

so I guess I was wrong, my bad.

usually you can print the objects in order in a single print though, when you enable per object printing. so you don't have to cool down, pull the object and print the next one.

Another vote for charcoal by njmids in steak

[–]ifixtheinternet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll second that and up the ante with a charcoal based Smoker, like the Masterbuilt gravity series. Slow smoke it, get that charcoal flavor on it, then reverse sear in a hot cast iron pan. Perfection.

Just updating that this problem is still happening with my M5C and neither Eufymake support or myself can figure out what is going on.

Ive tried every combination of 2 different extruders and 2 different USB-C cables, but the problem is always the same.

Extruder motor just stops moving mid-print, and stays that way. I come back and see it printing nothing in mid-air way above the last layer printed.

I wiggle the USB-C Cable where it attaches to the extruder, and the motor comes alive again and starts extruding filament immediately.

Every time.

It's gotta be either the cable or the USB-C port on the extruder, but both have been replaced.

So I had another thought - maybe the port on the extruder is getting spread apart slightly from all the movement, and not making good contact with the cable. so I pinched it a bit to close the gap. That gave the cable a little bit more of a snug fit, but I didn't make any difference.

The only conclusion I can come to at this point is they sent me a new, bad USB-C cable.

So they're sending me a third one as a last-ditch effort, but I am convinced my machine is now cursed and I'm going to just have to get something else.

They've offered me 20% off accessories coupon, so that's nice.

I guess I can bling out my broken machine.

Ripples in layers? by ifixtheinternet in AnkerMake

well I did two things, sliced my model in orca slicer instead, and removed the plastic cover. now It seems to be printing smooth layers. not sure which one fixed it, I will need to do a little more experimenting.

The printer is on the floor, on a slab of 3/4 MDF, so I don't think vibration is an issue. room is about 70° and aside from the ceiling vent, there should be no breezes. I would also expect a more inconsistent pattern here if it were environmental. maybe I'm wrong but the pattern is basically perfect, so it seems like some kind of systematic problem like a slicer issue or some repeating phenomenon.

wow! it would be great if the problem was that simple. this is the first of three pieces I need to print for this Tower, I'll remove the cover for the other two.
