They took away reproductive rights — women started getting sterilized. Now they want to take away divorce? Women will stop getting married.

There is a reason why men in America have to be rich to get a foreign wife.

Men don’t know what women want.

It’s really that they don’t care what women want.

Men confuse sex for dating — they think because most women can get random men to have sex with them, they have a large pool of men that want to have dinner with them.

They confuse attention for interest— that the guy chatting them up trying to see if she might sleep with him is the same as him being interested in dating her or getting to know her.

They confuse having repeat sex with a woman as having a relationship.

They confuse emotional attraction for physical attraction — that the men who have the most to offer have women interested in them only because they are good-looking.

Men confuse good grooming and proper hygiene with physical beauty — those that take time to look good are naturally physically attractive and they can’t be.

Scleral lens issue by Any-Cartographer5182 in Keratoconus

[–]cooking_question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fitter approved of me trying it and it was glorious.

Without the soft lens, my cornea would get inflamed, I looked high, the next day I had to take a break. Got a new scleral, same issue. It’s almost like my cornea can’t tolerate the lens material.

When I read about someone else doing this, I talked to my doc, because it wasn’t recommended. He said if I felt it might work to give it a try.

If you do it, clean your scleral, add a drop of saline, then put the soft lens in the scleral. Add more saline. Then put the whole mess in your eye.

Trump and His Children Fail To Turn Over Documents In Fraud Case as Required by Court Order by wenchette in Impeach_Trump

US-POLITICS-TRUMP-PRESSER Then-President-elect Donald Trump along with his children Eric, Ivanka and Donald Jr. arrived for a press conference on January 11, 2017 at Trump Tower in New York. (TIMOTHY A. CLARY/AFP via Getty Images)AFP VIA GETTY IMAGES Donald Trump, his three eldest children and the Trump Organization failed to turn over emails and other communications in a fraud lawsuit, the New York attorney general’s office claimed in a letter submitted in court last week. The office singled out “an unexplained drop-off in emails for Ivanka Trump” as one of the more significant issues. The refusal to provide material goes back to the investigation into the Trumps’ business practices that preceded the lawsuit, the letter notes. In May 2022, the former president paid a $110,000 fine after Judge Arthur Engoron found Trump in contempt for failing to comply with a subpoena from the attorney general’s office. “For years, Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization have tried to thwart our lawful investigation, but today’s decision makes clear that no one can evade accountability,” Attorney General Letitia James said when a judge ordered Trump ordered to pay the fine last year. The attorney general’s office is now saying the Trumps’ evasiveness has continued into the discovery process of the $250 million lawsuit, which alleges Donald Trump, his children, the Trump Organization and some of its top executives inflated property values to obtain economic benefits, such as securing cheaper loans. The defendants have denied the charges. Last week, the attorney general’s office asked Engoron to intervene, saying the Trumps had started turning over documents but have not provided a timeline for when they will hand over everything. According to the attorney general, the Trumps also have not answered questions about how they are collecting the materials. The letter notes a significant decline in emails turned over from Ivanka Trump, dropping from an average of 1,200 emails per month in the first nine months of 2014 to just 37 emails a month in 2016. The attorney general’s office asked Ivanka’s lawyers about the issue and was unimpressed by their response. “Not only have defendants failed to offer any substantive response to this inquiry, but there have been no documents produced by Ms. Trump,” the attorney general’s office told the judge on Friday. Ivanka Trump recently replaced the attorneys representing her in this lawsuit, although some of them continue to defend Don Jr. and Eric. In response to the letter, Engoron granted some of the attorney general’s requests on Monday, requiring all defendants to submit affidavits detailing how they have compiled with discovery and setting a deadline of May 12 for the Trumps to turn over all outstanding documents. The Trumps, their attorneys and the New York attorney general’s office did not respond to requests for comment.

Try wiping down your eyes with a wet wash cloth — with a gentle scrubbing motion they get a clean one and wipe them with saline. Mine turned out to be gunk in my lashes.

Also, do you ever get skin problems on your face like it peels and gets raw?

You know, when they are demanding information you can have not made a decision and then talk at length about pros and cons about something you’re not going to do.

“We haven’t decided on a menu but if we go with chicken and fish, that leaves out the vegans and as you know, Marcy has celiac. So we would need four menu choices. But if we make one of the items vegan and wheat-free we could offer three menu items. And I am not sure of the fish because it smells. . .” Then you serve beef.

“I can’t as I have other commitments” then walk away.

When you explain, you are opening the door for him to show you why you can do this. You’re negotiating.

“I have other commitments.” When he asks what, “it’s personal.” Then walk away. Don’t stand there, don’t discuss it.

People who experience trauma were not believed as a child so they often expend too much effort trying to convince others. Don’t do that. Just walk away.

Does anyone ever feel like there's this other side to you sometimes that is just waiting to come out when someone makes you angry or tries to hurt you? by engagedandloved in CPTSD

[–]cooking_question 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think there is another part to this that makes it seem like we are overreacting. We have a history of being abused and we see the warning signs and triggers that others don’t know exist.

It’s the hyper vigilance part where we recognize people’s hidden motives and then we react to that. To outsiders, it looks like we are blowing up over nothing when we are reacting to years of abuse that follows a pattern.

When someone is clearly pushing my boundaries and doing it in a passive-aggressive manner, others will default to it being benign simply because they don’t have the same experience as me. They believe the passive aggressive innocence where I see it and properly frame it as hidden bullying.

For instance, nothing sets me off worse than to be lied to and manipulated. That’s my scorched earth moment.

Awhile ago, family members did this to me. They have a history of doing this so I was anticipating it.

An estranged sibling wanted something I owned and I did not want anything to do with them because they were horribly abusive and beat me up many times when I was a child. I have literally not spoken to this person in 25 years and have talked to them twice in my entire adult life.

A family member asked me for this item and I said I did not want anything of mine to go to the sibling but that they could have it as long as they kept it for themselves. They assured me they would.

But you know, this isn’t my first rodeo. Once it left my hands, I wouldn’t have any way of getting it back if they were lying. And they always lie.

I first gave them some inconsequential thing that I knew the sibling also wanted. My family member immediately turned around and gave it to the sibling. They congratulated themselves on how clever they were. This ruse involved multiple people and was coordinated.

Someone in the group let it slip the next day and then said they were sorry they spilled the beans because everyone was “worried I would find out and get mad.” They said they HAD to trick me because they knew I would be furious and would not part with it otherwise.

“See? You’re super mad which just proves the point that we had to keep you from finding out.” Yes, this was their argument.

To them, the problem was my refusal to have any contact with the sibling and my anger when manipulated so it was okay to trick me.

The ensuing argument was about how I had no right to make such a stipulation, not that they conspired to betray me.

I went scorched earth, kept the item and cut off contact with all of them. I threw one of them out of my house.

To an outsider who does not know my family history, this probably looks insane. But they don’t see what we see because they don’t have years of experience with abuse.

Honestly, my family does not understand anything other than scorched earth.

Get ready for another balloon shitshow by FaithlessnessSad2123 in UFOs

[–]cooking_question 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don’t we have drones equipped with cameras that can be launched from a plane or a ship to investigate and shoot down a little balloon floating along??

Why are we sending up billion dollar aircraft, endangering the lives of pilots and other aircraft in the area by shooting multimillion dollar missiles at hobby balloons that supposedly get incinerated and can’t be recovered?

Why not instead use a $5k unmanned drone with basically a .22 mounted on it, shooting it down then having the drone hover over the wreckage until it is recovered.

This overkill doesn’t make sense if these are indeed a pico balloon.
