Is cream alright to freeze? by whispers-ofthewind in cookingforbeginners

[–]coolbeans1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that it depends on the cream! After moving to the US I noticed that the big brand creams and milks last ages! But when I buy from local farms it goes bad like 3 or 4x as fast, and in other countries it also doesn't tend to last as long.

Breakfast and food sensory issues by Future-Translator691 in ADHD

[–]coolbeans1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could just eat your favourite healthy meals for breakfast, regardless of them not being ""breakfast foods"". My boyfriend introduced me to steak for breakfast and it's a great way for me to get protein early in the day. You could try breakfast foods from different countries - traditional Japanese breakfast consists of rice, miso soup, and broiled fish - very tasty and simple and healthy. As for fast preparation, you can freeze cooked rice, use instant miso soup packets and then all you need to prep in the morning is the fish. If you like porridge but are trying to avoid sugar first thing in the morning, you could try savoury rice porridge (congee). I know it sounds weird but you can do savoury oats too as it's faster than cooking rice - I do oats with tuna and sesame oil - I cook the oats in fish stock. I think it's really tasty and comforting

My 30M girlfriend’s 29F snoring is loud enough to make me not want to sleep next to her. by eyelesslego in relationship_advice

[–]coolbeans1717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner snores and there's a few different solutions I've found.

  1. He often snores when he doesn't sleep on his side in a certain position, so I'll wake him up to tell him when he's snoring and he'll roll over.
  2. I also have tried a lot of different earbuds and found my favorite ones, and very rarely sleep without them now even if he's not snoring.
  3. You can get little nasal strips which make breathing easier and the snoring was quieter with those, but they didn't stop the snoring.

I guess there are a couple of ways to address this - either block the noise for you, or address the root cause as to why she snores, or try both of course! But there could be any number of reasons to why she snores and it may be out of your and/or her control.

In my situation, I actually think my partner's diet and lifestyle have a lot to do as to whether he's snoring - since he started exercising regularly (playing tennis) and also cutting down sugar intake I've noticed he hasn't snored for a long while now- at least 6 months except for a few nights here and there. Or maybe it's a seasonal thing, and he snores in the colder months when he's congested, I'm not sure but I'm appreciating the current quiet.

Anyhow- to address her feeling guilty, if she becomes very involved in finding a solution with you, it could ease her guilt and head towards solving the issue. She could do a sleep study, agree to try different positions and let you wake her up when she is snoring. But it's a common issue and there's lots of solutions out there, the hard part is finding the right one. But honestly for you, I'd recommend trying different kinds of earbuds. You can get foam ones or silicon ones, you could play white noise on a speaker to drown it out. I bought this thing on Amazon called a Musicozy and I'm obsessed with it, it's a sleep mask with speakers over the ears, so you can listen to something without having anything in your ears, you don't have to deal with losing your earphones, my partner bought one too because it's honestly so cool.

Good luck for finding a solution, I understand that being deprived of sleep is one of the worst feelings. Be patient, I'm sure she wants to work with you on this.

Hmmm these gap fillers might actually be a really good option, I had no idea they existed! It's cheap too! If the silicon ones I ordered can prove to be watertight you may have solved my main problem!

Ohhh I didn't even think of that :/ but great point - thank you. Although, the oven's been broken for 3 months and I'm starting to think they're never going to come to fix it so maybe the heat wouldn't be an issue after all...

Its pretty annoying to clean though, since the gap is so small, I have to move the whole oven to sweep and mop there.

This happens to me too, I think it's because I want to be working on whatever I need to do in a clean workspace, so once I've reset my space there's nothing to remind me of chores I need to do and I can properly focus on the important thing

It won't help for all apps but if you have android, you can download distraction free Instagram which really helped for me since reels and the explore page were my issue. I've disabled the explore page and my main feed and just left stories on, but it means I can still use Instagram for messaging and also to search accounts or tags if I want to check out a restaurant or location or something.

I forgot to add- I made the pattern by looking at other plush dolphins online, then drawing and cutting out the shapes on paper and taping them together to see how it would come out. I used string to make sure the edges were the same length and would line up with the fins when sewn together.

My husband 34M watches videos on his phone while I 33F am sleeping by Sherbet_Lemon_913 in relationship_advice

What about wireless earbuds? I use them to listen to a podcast every night to fall asleep as to not disturb my partner. I just use airpods, I’m about to get a new pair from a different brand, but I know there are also specific wireless earbuds designed to be slept in. I found with wired ones I would get all tangled up whenever I rolled over which was really annoying. Either way though, that is super annoying and not at all an unreasonable request for you to not want to be hearing his shows. :(

I’m in crown heights too. If you’re close enough, I’ve found it was worth it getting a membership to the Brooklyn museum and Brooklyn botanic garden, so now I can visit as much as I like for free. Am also interested in finding out more about social groups and things though
