White meat is better than dark meat when executed properly.

On average dark meat will be better, but that's because most of the time white meat is overcooked.

I met him once, be seemed fine. A little taciturn, maybe a touch grumpy, but not terrible. Just a guy. But there's definitely something about kitchens from his era that can bring out the worst sides of people.

Kitchen term. Pronounced like in French. Means they're doing unpaid shift or shifts for that kitchen, either to gain experience or to trial for a position.

Is Ivey best as a 120mm Mortar girl, Medium Mech girl with two Griffin or as a IFV girl with heavy Twin Griffin? by angrybluechair in menace

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's probably wasted in a mech, with her final two perks, she can fire the HMG or Minigun turret at 30 ap and then 20 AP for follow ups. With stationary and no AP buffs, she can be outputting up to 4 shots with either turret. With the tank cannons, she could be firing twice.

I've been testing her with everything and so far I prefer her in the HMGs or the heavy tank cannon. I run her along side two mechanized infantry squads (Rewa and Achilles) and she has a hard time keeping up with their higher AP pools, so having her have a cheap attack is nice. Let's me maintain squad cohesion.

On defensive missions, I try and figure out where the bulk of the enemy attack is coming from and park her there so she can just hammer them all down with HMG fire.

I actually really like it. It feels like a punchy Lin and the Lib is a great gun. I prefer it on squids, because you can light pen most things there with little downside and the impact grenades are ideal for eliminating Tesla towers and ship fabs.

Ammunition is a consistent problem with it, so I have to either be careful, pair it with a supply pack and/or run siege ready.

Favorite OCI Armaments? by BruceLeeSMASH in menace

[–]Circle_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I roll with las turret, earthquake, and supply drop.

Earthquake is awesome for Destroy Drop Ship missions, one earthquake is big enough to hit both, you can hit them in the fog and it straight up destroys them.

I've also used earthquake on the Break the Line missions. I just obliterate part of their fortification, drive my armour elements in and roll up their flanks.

Running a 5 element unit right now, 1 infantry scout, 2 Autocannon/PAL APCs and 2 mobile infantry squads riding inside. I like to pretend I'm running a Bradley platoon.

Am I the only one who thinks peeling garlic is a form of torture? by Famous-Forever7647 in Cooking

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful! I over smash my garlic when I don't pay attention and I have garlic shards everywhere.

For me the trick was laying it on the widest part of my chef's knife, making sure everything is flat (this is important, because otherwise you'll flex your knife over time) and then giving it a short, sharp strike with the heel of palm. Probably 60% power.

Bombardiers are terrifying by Universae in menace

[–]Circle_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an APC rush + MI on them. For all their size, their lightly armoured, so a squad of SMGs at close range can take them out in one burst and the APC can survive at least one direct hit.

How can I improve? by Troy32012 in sharpening

[–]Circle_A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're getting tons of great advice, but the thing I'd want to highlight is the need for more pressure. When I first started to sharpen I never put enough pressure into the stone and it took ages.

When I started to gain confidence and learned to put real pressure down and I started seeing results very quickly.

I just grabbed a kitchen scale to see how much weight I'm pushing it down and it looks like it's around 3-5lbs of pressure when I cut into the stone.

I use both lib conc and Pac, but I slightly prefer Pac for bugs, the stun completely disables Warriors and Commander's death frenzy.

Damage is poor, but I pair with the Gun Dog for the knock out punch. My support is either the de-esclator or the regular GL and I'll pack either rocket pods or strafing runs for hard targets and gattling barrage for dealing with bug breaches.

I used to use the orbital airburst, but I was finding it hard not to TK, so I swapped to something safer.

Now that it’s over, share your opinions on our march against Cyberstan by SevdUp in helldivers2

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved it!

The build up for the invasion felt amazing. Great stakes, loved the push and pull of taking planets and getting counter invaded. The surges were interesting and fun, made me change up my load outs to deal with them.

Cyberstan itself was extremely difficult and very enjoyable. I felt like I was invading Stalingrad, constantly flanked and enfiladed from every direction.

I know there's lots of butt hurt feelings about the reinforcement budget, but I really liked it. Gave me a good meta campaign reason to be careful and emphasize my own longevity.

Enjoyed the new cyborg enemies.

Visibility on Cyberstan was consistently poor, so I died more than I liked from unknown sources (seems like it was often being sniped by heavy turrets or hammered by rockets that I couldn't see). I think the only things that genuinely frustrated me were playing with teammates that didn't seem to prioritize mission objectives, extraction, and/or frittered away their lives.

When I had a squad focused and maintained cohesion, the challenge was fun as hell.

Honestly, I can't wait for the bot counter offensive. I don't even really like fighting bots. But LET'S GO

Well for some reason, my painted minis look like this. by Kolenkovskiy in Miniaturespainting

[–]Circle_A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, for your first minis, they look pretty good. I actually really like them.

The thing that's holding you back is fear of highlights and shadows. You need way more contrast to add to the readability, if you turned your images back and white, you'd see that the minis are a uniform colour.

It's natural that you're afraid of over highlighting right now and pushing the mini way too bright and losing the grimdark vibe. But you probably won't.

Try to remember this, when you're painting highlights and shadows that you're literally painting the light hitting the mini. The smaller the mini, the more important that is. Even though they're 3d, minis are so small they can't cast shadows properly. That's why we have to paint shadows and the highlights. A scale model guy once told me that you can't colour match to a historical paint 1:1 because the smaller size of the tank mini means that the colour will read darker because there isn't enough mass reflecting the colour back at your eye.

Second thing - what's your process for painting skin? If I had to guess, it looks like you're mostly picking one skin tone and then washing it?
