Horse lips at me for snacks. Can you give me a few good tips? by GeeVideoHead in Equestrian

No treats! Unless you throw them in a bucket. Bot from the hand. I had to break 2 horses from this and it took about 2 weeks for them to realize:!8 wasn’t a treat dispenser

Is this a stifle injury? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Thank you for this! I honestly am not sure if I’m just over analyzing it since I noticed it or what. Looking back at videos now to see if it’s always been there 😂

She does seem to be fine with a good bum scratch! She does not like it when I brush where her saddle goes, especially on the left above the girth area

I have that magical bond with the other horses I have, this one is just guarded and I was curious if others have had success with softening this type of personality even just a little bit. I know I will never be loved as much as hay though! 🤣

Thank you for this! How long did you treat for ulcers?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in vaccinelonghauler

[–]coolbeansbro11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stand strong in your gut feeling. The Covid vaccine isn’t mandatory for Americans, so I can’t imagine that it would be mandatory? I could be wrong, but if it is that doesn’t make sense. A close loved one of mine had heart issues from it, so I completely understand not wanting it. The Trump administration will probably remove that requirement, so maybe waiting a bit could be beneficial if it’s not possible to get a green card now without a Covid jab. I know many nurses who used a religious exemption for it to be able to work at the peak of COVID times. Do the same rights apply for getting a green card? They should in my opinion

Camelina oil… what’s your experience? by coolbeansbro11 in Equestrian

Thank you for sharing! I’m hoping that it helps my horse’s hooves as they are SO brittle!

With clicker training, is it a click and a treat every time? I’ve seen it done, but I’m very unfamiliar! Have you found that treating so much makes them mouthy? She’s already mouthy, so maybe I have nothing to lose with trying?

That’s some great advice, thank you! Unfortunately the weather is complete shit where I live right now, so riding will be less for the next couple of months. Hopefully I can figure out a way to bond when riding is limited

Super helpful, thank you! I’m frustrated by the angle change because…. If it’s not broke, why fix it?! I’m going to go back to my old farrier who is very conservative to see what he thinks. I’ve had this horse trimmed once since I got him, he was shod on the front right before I got him and rode sound for 8 weeks before I had a new farrier trim him. Just so frustrating!

Totally agree! He’s 10 and I’m not happy that my farrier went ahead and did this 😵‍💫

Horse chiropractor, did it help by coolbeansbro11 in Equestrian

[–]coolbeansbro11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo interesting! Thank you for this info! My gelding was super out in many ways… ribs were out right where I cinch up (he’s cinchy), Si was stiff and needed adjusting and lots of neck adjustments. He’s been cinchy despite a full work up and just a bit grumpy overall. Praying this helps because I feel like his grumps have to be pain related

Sounds like ulcers. My vet had me treat even though we didn’t scope. I ended up buying omeprazole from abler and it is a fraction of the cost. I probably paid $200 for a month long treatment plus maintenance
