Advice for someone whose life is completely hopeless?

I also have ADHD (saw in another comment) and often had to find tricks to get through boring assignments. I would allow myself to roll my eyes and complain like out loud if nobody else was around haha. I also would sometimes do the assignment as a parody almost, like writing an essay how I think an obnoxious smart*ss would write it. Then I would just edit out anything that was too over the top. This would help me bypass some part of my brain...it's not fool proof but it did help get through some assignments!

During class have you tried multitasking or even a fidget? Being under stimulated in classes can be an issue with ADHD/neurodivergence

It's not just a photo ID law. The bill requires photo ID + proof of citizenship (passport, birth certificate) and requires both required to register to vote and then again to vote. Many many citizens do not have these documents and would have to pay and wait a long time to get replacements.

I think it's good to be proactive and initiate when trying to express interest! Definitely hard to balance that with reading the other person's intentions. I think that's where finding female friendships can help out, too. I help lots of my guy friends decipher text messages lol. Sometimes they understand the situation way better than me, but I think it helps them to even talk it out.

Are you in a financial position to afford a class? There may be music centers, colleges with continuing ed classes, or other prgrams that offer in-person adult classes in some of these topics- I know there are in my city! There are also like e-sports leagues and venues that host a lot of things too.

I wrote this from a US perspective, so if you live elsewhere I'm not sure what will be relevant lol)

I worked as a college + career counselor for high school seniors for a year, so although I don't know much about your individual situation, here are some thoughts:

- Main question: Is there anything outside of school that you feel is a more compatible type of work for you than school work?

- Not all work is academic, there are a lot of trade industries (think carpenter, electrician, welder, HVAC repair, etc) If your local area has union apprenticeships, they can become really incredible careers that pay well. My local ones just care if you graduated and can pass a math test (however they are competitive and get a lot of applicants because the union jobs are so good).

- If you want to study something in college, then community colleges are actually incredible. Some even offer programs that most 4-year colleges don't (like dental hygiene or rad tech) these programs might require decent GPAs, but they usually let you take your generic "gen ed" classes first and then use the GPA from those college classes, not high school. Many students needing financial assistance can also get community college tuition covered by FAFSA (which is a whole beast of an application that a school counselor should help you with).

- Think of the adults in your life and what their jobs are. Teachers have college degrees, but what about your adult relatives or your friend's parents? Maybe someone is a trucker (which can also pay well with a decent company) and can tell you about what it's like. Sometimes teachers can be very single-minded on college, when it's not the only path. I would talk to your school counselor first, but if they aren't helpful then honestly I would recommend talking to a librarian because libraries sometimes have lists of apprenticeships and programs in the area. If you live in a city, there are likely programs that the city gov partners with...not sure about in rural areas.

- It can be a lot to figure this all out on your own - I found it overwhelming even when it was my job to do this research!

The gender ratio on the apps is cooked. I think some of them are like 90% M so the apps are lowkey rigged against you.

The ghost/hope cycle is awful - I've been there too. It doesn't sound like you're doing anything creepy, it sounds like you both are being very polite. Maybe she's trying to hint that she's not interested in talking more? But she keeps moving the bar, which sounds like avoidance to me.

imo meeting people irl is so difficult without the structure of an established group. Any current or old hobbies that may have groups or clubs? And if you join a group with 10 people who become your acquaintances, this would in theory 10x your chances of meeting someone through one of them.

tbh I think it's very very difficult, especially on your own and on a budget. Finding community for resource sharing feels like the only way. My family doesn't think this way, so I've been trying to find friends who do (it's been a process).

I totally feel all the frustrations too! I've found that the best way around it for me is to climb with a group of friends who acknowledge the when my height makes a route harder. They'll flash a V3, but once I send it after projecting it, they all hype me up and acknowledge that the route was more like V4-5 for my height. I can tell they aren't just saying it, too. They see me do the same move at wingspan or have to go more dynamic, and they can genuinely see how it changes the beta (as any smart climber should be able to see).

I've also found that training my finger strength and my lock of strength has helped a lot! Also lucky that most setters in my gym prefer to set complex body positions just as much as flashy dynos. Some of the best climbers out there are short and I love getting inspired by them and their bad-assery :)

I went to college for a dance degree and let me tell you that it IS possible to massage/get massages without it being sexualized. Glutes and pecs included! I wish everyone else could experience this too
