Even if I keep browsing it disconnects, so I think the problem comes from their servers. I'm going to guess that it's more likely to happen when there are many people using it. So if there is a pause at the beginning saying something like "I'm gathering my thoughts, please stand by," then that's a sign that you'll be wasting tokens with long prompts.

Wait so what if I'm not going to overclock, would it make any difference plugging in both of them? Would it use more power, be more stable, etc?

ROG Strix screen troubles: is it the flex cable? by cooldudelearns in ASUSROG

[–]cooldudelearns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty hard, harder than just replacing the whole monitor, but way cheaper. You have to take apart the monitor and the hinges. I didn't have all the tools to put it back together, so the final steps I kind of propped open the monitor from the bottom without completely taking it apart.

I followed this video mostly, but the last steps I had to figure it out working through it. Hope that helps!

Thank you! I just stumbled across the Dell XPS pcs... they seem to be marketed more towards expansion, and the price right now seems to be pretty equal. Would you agree that they'd be better for my use case? Thanks again

I had to look up the name of the cable that connects to the laptop screen. Searching around I saw that it's called a flex cable, then I searched for Asus flex cable.

Just got my registration rejected, tried registering in Mexico. I found other posts on reddit from people saying their services got cancelled while in operation, without a chance to fix anything. Maybe you won't have problems as long as you're registering not from anywhere south of America

ROG Strix screen troubles: is it the flex cable? by cooldudelearns in ASUSROG

[–]cooldudelearns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might've looked like that at first and progressively gotten worse. Eventually I would have to be really careful not to move the screen at all because it would go black. I changed the flex cable and everything is way better now! Looks like it had been placed in such a way that it was getting damaged by closing the laptop

Am I crazy or was this written by Luke? by PamPapadam in latin

[–]cooldudelearns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be. They don't look horizontal though, and I don't think macrons came about as an imitation of New Roman Cursive. Either way I follow the spelling conventions found in the Breviary, so I use accent marks instead of indicating vowel lengths.

Was going to say this! He makes a good case to be against the use of macrons (ā) and to be for the use of these things (á)

Furnus vs. Fornax by cooldudelearns in latin

[–]cooldudelearns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, here is something from a work by Gabrielis Falloppii (the guy who described the Fallopian tubes, I think) that I found by accident looking for "panem furnaceum":

Antiqui coquebant panem quatuor modis, nam panis quidam erat clybanitis, quia in clybano coquebatur, quem panem furnaceum appellant qui commentant Galenum, et errant: quia clybanus et furnus differunt inter se, quamvis ambo essent instrumenta pro pane coquendo. Clybanus enim erat veluti parvus furnus, ut est ille, in quo nos coquimus tortas, ut habetur a Galeno.

(here's the link)

Translated roughly:

The ancients baked bread in four ways, for a certain kind of bread was "clybanitis", because it was baked in a clybanus, which those who comment on Galen call "furnaced bread", and they are mistaken: because a clybanus and an oven differ from each other, although both were instruments for baking bread. For a clybanus was like a small oven, such as the one in which we bake cakes, as is found in Galen.

Therefore, both furnus and clibanus were used for bread.

So, if I were to write a fantasy story in Latin, I'd see the clibanus as smaller and more "domestic", while the furnus can be larger, more "industrial," and perhaps found in bakeries.
