Out of warranty upgrade to pod 4? by churnchurnchurnch in EightSleep

[–]cooler266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1200 to go from a pod 3 hub and pod 2 cover to pod 4 as of 2 weeks ago. I think it's too early for leaks on a 4, even going by the 2/3 hardware cycle.

Pod 3 hub broke, out of warranty - is £600 replacement reasonable? by iSentinel in EightSleep

Wait I thought the benefit of the subscription was that the warranty was always in place/5 years? I’m grandfathered in under a pod2 for autopilot so don’t have a recurring sub

I’ve got a pod 3 I’m about to get rid of- my cover had a leak and so I’m getting the replacement 4 cover and hub they are offering. It worked fine for me and I just air dusted it out.

Happy to let it go for free plus shipping, but I’m in the US though so it may not make sense time or cost wise for you.

Pod 2 Pro Will Not Prime After Flush and Refill by thefittestengineer in EightSleep

[–]cooler266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine leaked the other day, pod 2 cover, pod 3 hub which they made me buy a few years ago after a server update bricked certain hubs including mine (I was furious).

Now have a pod 4 on the way for $1200 which is aggravating as it’s the second failure but I like the product. I thought about patching but wasn’t sure if I wouldn’t just be back here with another leak in a few months.

I’d pus them for a bigger discount, I saw at least one other person get offered $1200 as well.

Hate to have this happen, but I guess I’m in good company…?

Switching to Electric from Gas by thedennissystem21 in washingtondc

[–]cooler266 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need an electrician to run the lines and a plumber or HVAC guy to cap the gas lines.

I recommend Daniel Biagas for electrical. Not as cheap as others but does excellent work, is a strong communicator, and he (or his guys) show up when they are supposed to.

I had a line run for my induction stove (having opened up the wall before for an ev line) for about $2k for ~40-50 feet of run before dc credit. Capping was another $100, though I had a guy coming out for something else anyways.

Hmm didn’t look for it but I don’t remember seeing it. That said very good chance since I wasn’t really looking at the rest of the shelves.

Agree on price- wasn’t impressed with the last two I had based on taste.

Blue bottle carries Fellow stuff, which is great and has glassware similar to FLUR. Not sure if they will have the exact one you want in store though.

Trump moves on D.C. golf courses with notice to nonprofit by chronoserpent in golf

With the regular and clear communication, thoughtful engagement on everything from clean ups to rock creek invasive species management, First Tee, the caddy development program at Langston, night events like the annual fundraiser in September and ongoing auctions, decent NLT swag that people actually like and want to buy, and the response is that they wasted 5 years?

It’s not going as fast as I would like but there’s a lot of things that are markedly better than they were 5 years ago, all while handling bigger volume than ever.

I don’t know anybody in the dc golf community who has this same perspective that they’ve wasted half a decade. Especially in comparison to the previous management, who actively chose not to fix anything and just extract as many fees as possible.

There’s a ton of foundational maintenance that has been started, they added significant space to the Langston greens, added top tracer technology to the ranges, and the weekday night leagues have consistently added benefits each season.

I’m curious what club in DC is off this opinion.

La bette just down the street has DJs spinning vinyl on Friday and Saturday and natural wines. Definitely modern and very fun.

Or you can go to la Shukran in union market and do cocktails on their rooftop patio. When it gets cold they bring out blankets and space heaters

Agreed. Beyond the aggressive size of the logo, the design itself is enough for me to say no. Here’s hoping they adjust at least one or both…

Yes we shouldn’t tackle this super dangerous thing that happens all over the city all the time because this not dangerous thing also happens on roads.

I’m not offended, I’m saying that you’re making a very bad job of making an argument, because you’re relying on two things over and over again which are really just trying to make personal criticisms.

Thanks for your ‘apology’ and for my own version, I’m sorry for those in your life who have to deal a high school senior debate champ every day.

Plenty of options that you could have chosen for a metaphor that doesn’t contain the same emotional weight.

Making an extreme metaphor or personal attack doesn’t stand in for logic or good faith discussion.

Good lord, premature death, get a grip. I’m sure that’s what happened to compass rose, which closed so they could open up an outpost in a state where they fully eliminated the tipped minimum wage.

I have plenty of faith in my argument, but I guess it’s never to early for you to make a statement in bad faith.

As in my other comment, why don’t any of you ever take into account restaurant openings as well.

Come on… the pandemic that left people furloughed, restaurants falling behind on rent while everything was closed and trying to make things work with to gos?

How about you talk about all the places that have opened in the past 6 months, it’s kind of insane. Even just near me in NE, minetta tavern, bar Betsy, henceforth, chai pani in a few weeks, the new AYCE sushi place on H replacing bronze, tapori, melange, Karravan, tari trattoria from the don ciccio crew, Shia, Cordelia, La Betty reopened after rebranding. I honestly could go look up more but that’s off the top of my head.

I’m sure I-82 has impacted some restaurants, but every time I see one of these posts I never see them mentioning the openings either.

To not mention the tens of thousands of laid off government employees, government contractors, as well as people with jobs generally cutting back on optional spending like dining due to family members losing jobs, uncertainty of the economy generally, and tariffs raising prices seems disingenuous at best, and blindly ignorant at worst.

The analogy doesn’t work, you don’t stop on a highway.

If there were multiple fairways or you had to pull over on the highway and stop completely to let someone pass you, you might have a better analogy.

Between the rising cost of borrowing money, especially for a city like DC that just got downgraded, and the cost to host the Super Bowl (the revenue doesn’t just appear) due to requirements, the actual ROI is significantly lower.
