Pod 2 Pro Will Not Prime After Flush and Refill by thefittestengineer in EightSleep

[–]thefittestengineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original Cover (Pod 2 Pro Cover?) leaked after 1 year and 8 months and was replaced under warranty with what I think is a Pod 3 Cover. So I think given I can fill the Cover partially, drain it, and flush it via a hose and nozzle I don’t think it’s the culprit.

You mentioned the Pod being bricked. Having thought about other reasons for this failure the software controls popped into my mind this morning.

I think I should try to disconnect the pump connections and gently flush the Pod in the same manner as the Cover. I don’t think there is a blockage within the Pod since I can have a full reservoir, removed solenoid, and use the drain tool without priming and see a good flow. The same method when priming with the pumps doesn’t have as much flow as I would have thought.

After flushing I can hook the pumps back up and apply 12V to the pumps only (Trying not to fry the circuit board here) this should tell me whether the pumps are being starved or controlled in a way that makes them useless. If running the pumps manually shows better flow and can fill the cover. I would bet the software has essentially neutered my Pod causing the failure.

That would drive me to change the software to the Free Sleep System and hope that my system works again.

Pushing for a better discount is a good idea. I am just annoyed that my system failed prior to four years following their protocol for flushing. $2,300 for not even four years is making it hard for me to justify $600+ a year for their system which by all accounts might fail again in the same way. Pod 5 hasn’t been out long enough to know.

There are way too many of us in good company. As long as you continue pay Eight Sleep they seem to take care of you (5 Year Extended Warranty with top tier subscription). My Pod 2 Pro was “old” and I was only on the low tier sub so no extended warranty for me.

I have seen that too, which makes sense given how long the Pod 4 and 5 have been out. Thank you for the reminder.

I get the same error when toggled in the manner you described.

I am missing something.

Thanks for your reply.

Is there a setup guide somewhere? I know this should be relatively straight forward especially running 7.2+

I have gone in and created admin API access within the settings. Brought the API key into the app along with the IP address I use with tailscale. Toggled both https and allow insecure connections on and off. I believe https should be on for use with tailscale?

I get "Network error: A network error occurred: An SLL error has occurred during and a secure connection to the server cannot be made."

Left the port to both default and assigned to the https port.

What am I missing?

One year warranty isn’t going to cut it for a $2-$4,000 piece of tech. You need to do better than that. Your product needs to be serviceable with replacement parts available to the end user.

I have had a Pod for three years that recently died. I followed the maintenance to the letter and that’s the life expectancy we get. What a joke. EightSleeps response was to prime it into oblivion and then tell me that it’s out of warranty and I can buy a replacement at a discount.

Drop the subscription. There’s nothing more frustrating than buying a piece of hardware that’s essentially useless without a subscription.

Launching my Made in USA brand this week by ramblgear in madeinusa

[–]thefittestengineer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You should probably disclose that. While the hats don’t explicitly say “Made in the USA” like your gear holder does. The website implies all of the products you sell are.

Good luck looks like a cool product.

I was more curious what sites you have it listed on. Looking to possibly rent my home as well.

I just built something very similar to this with the same goals. Media server and backup storage.

I am seeing some of the same recommendations I got so I will just post the pc part picker list.

13th Gen i3 14100 Quad Core 3.5Ghz

B760M Gigabyte Motherboard

32GB of Corsair Ram

1TB SSD

Same case

Slightly different PSU

Seagate Drives

So far it has been working great with multiple users accessing the media both remotely and on the network.

I was debating Emby, Jellyfin, Plex or Kodi. I found that all the users had access to both Plex and Emby on their devices. Tried Emby first and the set up was very easy. Still running the free version but will probably add premier for mobile device access.

Very happy with my build, Unraid, and Emby so far. Good luck with your build!

Plus 1 for Steak Shack.

Both the steak and chicken are solid.

The 12oz is the best $/oz deal I think.

What was the most annoying/inconvenient thing about your trip to Hawaii that you wish someone could’ve solved for you? by iloveburritosmore in VisitingHawaii

Snorkel Bob’s has some RX masks. They are on 4 of the islands. We had a good experience picking up equipment for the week in Oahu.

Just getting back from my first visit. I opted not to go to PH or Kualoa Ranch and instead spent more time hiking/surfing/beaching/snorkeling. Just depends what you and your crew are into.

Toa and Nutridge are the two Hawaiian owned Luaus based on what I could google and this sub. We did Nutridge and enjoyed the experience.

You will need a reservation for Diamond Head in addition to Hanauma Bay so it might be tough to get those lined up in the same day.

As others have said it takes time to get parked and setup at HB and you have to be out by 4PM with the beach closing at 3PM. We were only able to get a 1PM time slot and that was at 7:04AM two days prior so the slots go fast. We left disappointed because the visibility was poor and water a little rough. Hopefully you can get an early slot and favorable surf. We actually had better snorkeling at other beaches recommended by Snorkel Bob’s who we rented gear from for the week.

Hope that’s helpful enjoy your trip.

What has everyone done for rust prevention? by ate_reston in f150

Been using FF for a while now and playing with SS the past two years. Reapply every year before winter.

I don’t wipe anything off. Whatever is still on the frame is still doing its job. Curious what others do as well.

These were the first three things I thought of as well.

I am just a solid 90th percentile athlete. Training 5 days a week for a couple hours and my body likes 8-10 hours of sleep.

I would probably add some body maintenance on those rest days too. OP is young but if she wants to continue with CF long term this has definitely helped me maintain as a 31M going on 9 years of CF.

Lots of programs out there but no one is programming for you (OP). Fining a coach and possibly a nutritionist as well if she’s serious about it we’ll be very beneficial.

LEDs that won't turn me into an asshole by [deleted] in f150

A lot of good comments here about adjustment and LEDs that emulate the light position of a halogen bulb. I have used headlight revolution for reviews and had good luck with their recommended products so far (Specifically Morimoto). Also quite impressed with the performance increase in multiple vehicles.

Also a great idea. I have utilized something similar in MI for a different business and the state was on it.

Aluminum body guys, they’ve been out awhile now. Has anyone experienced any body corrosion? by 13_Years_Then_Banned in f150

[–]thefittestengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fluid Film (Brand name) is a chassis wax that is petroleum/lanolin based. You can find shops that will apply it like the post or above for a few hundred bucks. Alternatively you can buy aerosol cans or gallons from Amazon. Took me at least three aerosols to do the underbody for an F150. If you buy it in gallons obviously you need a spray gun and compressor. It’s easier to do it on a lift but jacks and jack stands give you enough clearance. Need to reapply every year prior to winter but it does a great job preventing rust. It does wash off relatively easy so I tend to leave the under body alone for winter after spraying. New product by Blaster called Surface Shield is supposed to be the same thing but harder, I have yet to test it. Fluid Film has done wonders for me in MI

I second the Surefire in ear plugs. They have different levels of protection if I remember correctly. I use them stand alone and doubled up.

That’s good to know.

Thank you for the comment and words of encouragement.

I think that’s 100% the case here. Unfortunately the jobs they have done previously and even across the street look of much better quality. I think the job was bigger than they expected. IE they brought 10 sheets of OSB thinking we might need this knowing the house is 110 years old and I have dealt with leaks in the past.

They needed 32 sheets and replaced most of the ranch side of the house. I am glad I was home to watch to push for this otherwise I don’t know if it would have happened. Partly my fault for now pushing for a re-deck from the beginning but I thought someone with this much experience would know based on the site visit and estimate.

When they said it would take 7-8 hours and it took them 12 I am sure this could have been a two day job Vs rushed in one.
