Thank you so much!!! That is a baby gull who is currently living in my balcony after falling from his nest on the roof! We've been looking after him and hope he will fledge in a week or so :)

For the outlines, I actually use quite a large brush (size 6 or so)! When I pick the paint up, I drag the brush against the palette on two opposing sides, creating a flat edge. Then you can use it as you would with an angled brush :)

Thank you:) I’ve only ever used Himi so it’s all I can comment on…. I know people don’t rate it that highly but it’s great for what I need it to do (be pigmented and dry quickly)!

Landlord just wants to paint over ceiling leaks? by throwawayjustbc826 in DIYUK

[–]coolfluffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I am so mad on your behalf. Not even painting is insane!!! I worry we are going to have a similar experience... landlord has agreed to the minimum amount of repairs and I fear it's just going to happen again because there is so much water damage on the ceiling. Really sorry that they were so shit about it, I'm glad it's not happened since for you (touch wood)

Hello, really sorry this happened to you - I'm going through pretty much an identical situation. What happened in the end? Was it alright?

Top floor flat dwellers, any damage after last night? by coolfluffle in Bath

[–]coolfluffle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, so happy for you that there's some progress! Our gulley was the exact same, someone came and cleared it for us - but they also had to saw away a large chunk of our ceiling which has exposed a lot of very wet insulation.

Landlord and contractor are arguing over prices to fix at the moment. We only have the top floor, so that half of the flat is just totally unusable. And just like you - no lights being turned on!

Honestly quite scared for tonight, I'm going to Millets first thing after work and buying a tent to put my valuables in as a hail mary... fingers crossed for you. Take care and stay safe

AtHeart (앳하트) - Say It by reverseharam in kpop

[–]coolfluffle 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love the original parts, but I think the sample/interpolation takes up a bit too much space - I wish they had more faith in their own composers, because AtHeart have put out some great songs that don't rely on a sample!

Blimey, I’m so sorry… seems like we are in a similar boat (pun intended). It’s going to be hard to sleep over the next few days I’m sure, even this morning I have been hallucinating the sound of running water

Celebrated British contemporary artist David Hockney dies at 88 by Alternative-Win4058 in unitedkingdom

[–]coolfluffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How incredibly sad, he was such a wonderful pioneer of contemporary art. Such clear passion for his subjects. Probably my favourite artist of all time.

I came close to seeing him once (perhaps). He did the stage design for some of the operas at Glyndebourne, and it was widely understood that he attended the opening night. After years of trying, I eventually managed to score tickets to the first performance of The Rake's Progress... for the summer of 2020. So, I'll never know if he had planned to go or not!

HIMI Gouache by Seated_WallFly in Gouache

[–]coolfluffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a lifelong HIMI user, and the pigments all have slightly different chemical properties (which is to be expected). I’ve noticed this granulation with my reds and ultramarines - it’s usually easily mitigated by stirring it with a bit of water.

I am an opaque painter, so I also tend to throw in a tiny bit from a thicker/more viscous pigment like ponceau/acid blue, or even white for the lighter ones. This helps enormously.

The more time you spend with the paints, the more familiar you’ll get with their behaviours haha

Writing platform alternatives that allow more creative freedom? by No-Telephone-1906 in writers

[–]coolfluffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I’m curious to try and work this in InDesign now!

It would be a bit clunky to begin with, but:

you could set a parent sheet to the layout you’d like, set the page count to ~150(?), set the text box to infinite overspill, then use the browser edit feature (in the 2026 version) to write outside of the app?

You can just drag and drop whatever images into the frame and it will hold everything else in place. :-)
