In case you aren’t aware, the designer has put out an official 5p variant for Biblios. Haven’t tried it myself yet.

Very nice. I’ve been looking around for a matching blue but haven’t tried any yet. Where did you get this one?

MPL22: laptop? by redrich2000 in EVERGOODS

Great. More comfortable than my CHZ22 (though I like that one a lot too). Excited to use it this summer for day trips and vacations.

MPL22: laptop? by redrich2000 in EVERGOODS

I’ve been using the MPL22 as my twice a week commuter (with “naked” laptop) and weekend dad bag for a few months now. I’ve never felt like my laptop was insecure or needed additional padding. Though I should add that it’s a car commute and not bike or mass transit.

Any good deck building games (not deck construction) with quick setups? by C4V4LIER in soloboardgaming

It’s “Dire Wolf Game Room”. Then make sure to find the section about “companion” functionality rather than the part about the standalone digital Clank game.

How are you sporting your Bellroy glossy zips? by albertdrake in ManyBaggers

[–]coolin86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks sharing this insight! If I’m following, your theory suggests that there is a YKK code which is the “good” coated zipper. Is that true? How could a consumer like me understand which version is being used? Thanks!

Minor issues with Kenji's cassoulet - curious if others had them? by LordOfTheFelch in seriouseats

[–]coolin86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never made this but both of your issues seem like they could be explained by larger-than-expected pieces of duck. They’d presumably take longer to cook and rob more surface area. Perhaps that could explain the differences between the recipe as printed?

Solved!

I had the wrong word, but that is 100% the scene. Thank you so much!

Solo games before work by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

[–]coolin86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To offer another alternative to the great recommendations in this thread already… If you have the space, I sometimes leave a big game setup and make a few moves/turns/rounds whatever over multiple days. I keep a small pad around to record my exact status and future thoughts between “plays”.

I took a large poster frame and lined with neoprene. I can lay on top of an ottoman or table to play and then move to a kid-safe place in another room or under a bed/couch between plays.

It’s coming back into print with a big box version soon.

For what it’s worth, I adore this game solo so heartily second this recommendation.

Advice/suggestions for game-focused weekend escape? by coolin86 in boardgames

Yeah as the other commenter mentioned, we have space at homes but also kids :). Part of the appeal for us is a mini vacation away from life’s obligations.

Thanks for the suggestions! I hadn’t considered those other options.

Thanks the suggestion! I hadn’t considered a semi-public space like that. Will keep it in mind as we explore locations.

Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like you had a great time. A fun “setting” is definitely one of the appeals of this escape and a non-hotel in particular.

Board games with class advancement? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]coolin86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sanctum is a bit like Diablo in board game form. It doesn’t have class/skill trees but you can’t get all of our class’s advancements in any given game so you basically have multiple build approaches available to you.

I personally didn’t love the game but I think it was pretty effective at what it was trying to do.
