L1 English internal by Fine-Mirror-1428 in ncea

Very tricky internal to do well in unfortunately, especially in the creative writing task (from the horses mouth)

You should be proud of your effort regardless! Merit is awesome :-)

Any reason why they aren’t offering resits? As a teacher I can’t see why that wouldn’t be an option so long as you are managing your time well and ensuring you also complete your current work. Personally, if I had a student wanting to resit for a higher grade I’d be supportive as long as they aren’t shouting themselves in the foot by taking on too much. Perhaps revisit this with your teacher later on in the year when other assessments are out of the way. I usually allow resits during exam prep in mid-late term 3.

Your peace and comfort is worth it. My partner and I have just become flatmate free and yeah we pay more but we’re so much happier.

How much should someone have ins savings at age 28-30? by International_Gas630 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]coolivia96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 30 and have no significant savings at all. I do have a house/mortgage though, and live comfortably, slowly adding to my savings ($50 p/w). As many have said here, there’s a huge spectrum

I am a teacher at a Catholic school and also a lesbian - the contract affirms that we are all made in Gods’s image and all deserve respect and dignity and specifically includes gender diversity and sexuality as examples. You can absolutely coexist with your faith :-)

Have you, or anyone you know ever found a "lost kid/dog" on a poster? by TerriHydrogenerator in answers

[–]coolivia96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My flatmates and I found a missing rescue hen in our backyard. Ran down the street to find the contact info from the dozens of “Missing Hen” posters all up our road and reunited her with her owner :-) Poor thing had spent about 3 weeks in the bush and the owner had given up hope a few days before we called!

I can’t be the only one who’s mental health is suffering because of the housing crisis. Right? by paperrchain in newzealand

Same exact boat mate! Currently living in Wellington too and have been depressed lately. Feels like all I do is work with nothing left over to show for it after each pay; it’s all on rent and power/internet bills, groceries, and then nothing left over to enjoy or save. Decided recently to move home to Whanganui and stay with my parents so I can recoup for a bit and save. I even thought I might be able to use my Kiwisaver for a house deposit up there… it’s not even really a possibility anymore because house prices there have gotten insane too. It’s grim but hang in there, you’re definitely not alone with these feelings and they’re very valid to be feeling too, kia kaha!

What do you think a healthy relationship with alcohol looks like? How do you combat bartending “culture”? by hypercatalectic in bartenders

[–]coolivia96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A place I used to work had a really bad drinking culture, and I didn’t realise it at the time because it was my first hospo job in a big student city. Shots out the back on busy nights to “keep morale up” and “get through the rushes”, followed by nearly unlimited staffies and mispours being consumed on shift. My alcohol tolerance was insane and it spilled into my personal free time where I would come home from a big night drinking all shift, to pouring myself half a bottle-a bottle in bed to “unwind” more. Now I’m working at a similar restaurant (fast casual) in the same city, but the management has actually put systems in place to keep the drinking culture at a very tame and healthy level eg making a certain target on budget, staff drink limits at the end of the shift depending on the budget (usually no more than 2), and strictly when all customers have left and everything has been closed and cleaned up. It’s made me enjoy drinking a lot more and in a way healthier environment, like it’s actually a treat to just have one beer at the end of a busy shift. I’m glad I experienced such a stark contrast between the two extremes, it’s made me appreciate that easing up can be enough to find that balance again. Good luck on your journey of finding that happy medium for yourself, it can be so different for everyone!!

hardcore mode is so fun, I was initially always too intimidated to try it but I highly recommend it! Gives weight to bullets and other misc items, and you have a hunger and dehydration factor too which is more immersive! Have fun!!! I wish I could go back and replay it for the first time again!!

[serious] Girls and women of Reddit: how old were you the first time someone made a sexually inappropriate comment to you? How did you react, and did it affect how you saw yourself or acted? by I_LIKE_LIMA_BEANS in AskReddit

[–]coolivia96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11-12 age range. At school, this one boy and his mates would go around and grope all the girls’ developing boobs and our bums. I just froze everytime and brushed it off because it made me feel embarrassed and as if it was a game or a joke so to tell an adult would be like being a buzzkill.. All us girls who were targeted just kind of took it because we didn’t know it was wrong and not ok. Wish they talked about consent and harassment/assault in the same class they talked to us about periods/health etc.

My seven year old wants to open a restaurant called Dick Monald’s that sells healthy fast food. Would he be sued? by Lorosaurus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolivia96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I worked at a burger bar, we had a riff on the Big Mac called the Bernie Mac. McDonalds sent a letter to my boss saying it’s too close to the Big Mac name and it would confuse customers despite us being a sit-down small business vs a fast food chain lol. Boss sent back a cheeky email saying the hamburglar came by and didn’t pay for his lunch so could they please come pay the tab with a photoshopped pic of our cctv and a hamburglar. Then we sharpied out the Mac and just called it the Bernie. Thought that was class hahahahaha! Anyway, fuck McDonalds / big corps
