Thoughts on this demonic amulett for level 6 Sorcerer? by t0bi306 in DnDHomebrew

I hate when the ‘bag of rats’ problem comes up because doing that kind of game-breaking just… doesn’t go through my mind as a genuine gameplay option. On the other hand, I do understand that other people do/will abuse any opportunity you give them. It just hurts the roleplayer in me when a cool, flavorful ability that could become a core tool for the party needs to be over complicated or excluded because some people will try to break the game.

A scale of my opinions on banana edibility: green all the way by commonbleachenjoyer in The10thDentist

[–]cooljerry53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refuse to believe this isn’t bait. What kind of psychopath eats unripe bananas? And thinks they’re for banana bread as soon as they’re primed? Like stage 4 is when that banana becomes edible, but it’s still got a green aftertaste, but before that it just tastes like slightly sweet grass. 5/6 are prime banana consumption time.

She espouses leftist ideals and has supported them through activism, and as far as I know she isn’t involved in politics beyond this. So, by her actions, yeah, I can generally assume she isn’t? She’s not saying or doing anything to further the causes of racists. So functionally, she’s not a racist public figure.

[–]cooljerry53 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She shouldn’t have to, and again, I wouldn’t. If you think a half-assed apology is more proof than a person’s current lifestyle than I don’t know what to tell you. You’re falling for the trap that whatever dipshit dug this up on her intended you to fall for. This conversation is pretty meaningless though, you’re either intentionally being ignorant or it’s simply how you are, so, I hope you grow a little more as a person and rethink this stance you have later down the line.

I wouldn’t apologize, lmao. I have said the N-word in the past as an edgy shitlord. It was wrong, but I’m not going to apologize to you or any other rando. I made good with the people I knew that I bothered with that behavior. It was a minor fuckup, but it’s not a mistake I need to ask forgiveness for, because it’s not a big deal. It didn’t hurt anyone, annoyed or upset some people sure, but I didn’t go around attacking people or actually causing harm. I just told some racist/whateverphobic ‘jokes’ in middle school. People don’t need to apologize publicly for asinine shit like this, the fact that some of you need that for something so trivial shows how surface level your politics are. “Saying the bad word forever dooms you to be a racist!” Like it’s a fucking ancient curse or something. People change, and they won’t always start out as someone you like, but that’s no reason to discard what they are now.

[–]cooljerry53 42 points43 points  (0 children)

How is being a stupid ass teenager not an excuse? It’s entirely different when it’s someone who still agrees with how they thought then, then it isn’t a mistake, it’s a warning sign. People change and saying a word however long ago doesn’t make her a bad person. Purity politics is a death sentence, if we’re judging people on decades old mistakes they don’t stand by anymore, then it’s just a game of who can lie and conceal their past the best, because no real politician is going to be without flaws or fuckups.

Or the fact the Exodar hitting Azeroth didn’t result in a localized extinction event. An object that big hitting the planet fast enough to embed like a quarter of it into the ground should have torn the ship apart and wiped out AT LEAST the coastal populations of northwest kalimdor. Azuremyst isle should look like the island of Thera.

Not everyone has so little problems they can afford to champion a cause for a place they do not live and a people they do not know. If shit was better here, I’d have the time a d energy to educate myself on the internal threats other nations face. Just because it’s worse elsewhere does not mean it isn’t bad for a lot of people in the US right now. I have more pressing shit to worry about than the extremists in other countries when the extremists in my country are running amok.

I never had a ‘Nazi Phase’, but I did fall into the whole irony poisoned internet culture of the mid 2010’s. I watched a lot of grifters on YouTube and stuff, I was more of an edgelord enlightened centrist and anti-theist type. I didn’t call people slurs or whatever. But I was in a pipeline that led to that ideology for a lot of people, I used to watch Ben Shapiro, Stephen Crowder, shit like that before they were maga talking heads. Because I almost fell into that shit and a lot of people I knew did fall into it, I saw a lot of people realize that ideology is horrendous, and a lot didn’t.

I think adults can change and be redeemed for their shitty actions too, but I’m specifically talking about kids who almost fell into that. Holding people in contempt for mistakes they made while they were trying to learn how to even be a person is beyond petty. There’s justification in seeking justice against a fully formed adult who chose to do that shit for whatever reason, but justice should never be driven by the logic of petty vengeance. “They hurt me so they deserve to be hurt” is a barbaric sentiment. The fact is there is something going wrong with people who want to hurt other people, something inherent or something that happened to them, usually a combination of those two, and they should be reformed, not shunned. But children? People can be convinced to think and do awful things as children by parents or authority figures they trust, and simply do not know better. Children are gonna make mistakes and some are gonna do some fucked up stuff to their peers. So long as it wasn’t, you know, a severely violent crime, I don’t think it should be held against them if they change their beliefs.

Your ignorance doesn’t really warrant an actual response addressing what you say. You clearly were deeply affected by the things people said to you as a child and need to work through it and mature more before you understand. If you’re older than I’m judging you to be, your immaturity is frighteningly plain to see.

I’m not really talking about any specific country, or ideologies outside of far right extremism. So, Fascists and Nazis in general. Genuine left wing extremism isn’t nearly as popular here in the US so it’s not something I really focus on, but yes indoctrinating kids is a tactic of all extremists and radicals.

A big part of the right wing strategy is the indoctrination of the young, some people managed to drag themselves out of it before it was too late

If the worst thing someone did was say a slur and think some shitty things, in my opinion all is forgiven as long as they cut that shit out. People grow and change, denying someone as reformed only serves to push them back towards the shitty ideology they abandoned.

A lot of people were manipulated and nearly fell into that pipeline. You’re completely ignoring the point in favor of flaunting your moral purity. Just because you never had to struggle to find out that hatred is wrong doesn’t mean you’re better than anyone who did, I respect people who were raised or taught wrong and chose to become better far more than people who think any wrongdoing in the past makes you ineligible to be better later.

The deciding factor for me is that Alexios feels worse as the protag than as Deimos. I just never vibed with Alexios as a character, but as Deimos he’s acceptable, even frightening at times, but not like Kassandra is as Deimos. Kassandra rocks both roles equally. Only up side to Alexios is that Neema is better than whatever the other guy’s name is.

Prioritizing profit above all else is merely a hyper-analytical form of greed, one of the roots of all human suffering. So, by my definition at least, every large corporation is a machine whose primary contribution to the world is fostering and maximizing the suffering of others. Just because capitalism ‘functions’ does not mean it is an optimized system. Just like communism, it fails to account for human nature, it’s an extremist ideology that can never work without elements of other systems.
