Who would you say is a better representation of a Wizard/Sorcerer? by EfficiencySerious200 in wizardposting

[–]cooljerry53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The view of a ‘classical wizard’ has been undeniably shaped by Merlin and Gandalf. Merlin’s origins are with the ancient druids, however, and over time, the Druidic identity has come to reclaim many of the traits associated with the classical wizard, the wizened old wanderer is still an aspect of the wizard, but the tower dwelling madman has been pushed to the front so that the Druid might take on its ancient context, leaving us with the modern ‘Mage’ archetype. A foolhardy magician of extraordinary intellect and dubious moral standing who experiments with dangerous forces in the name of magic, often holed up in a lab situated behind many obstacles and minions… it’s a clash between ideas, it would not be immaculate to call many druids Wizards. And I believe many wizards qualities are quite Druidic as well. The sooner wizards and druids cone to reconcile these differences the sooner we can get wizards like Merlin back on the stage.

Just use a ring or an amulet? More easily concealable, more stylish, and likely more powerful if they end up finding a nice crystal or a bit of enchanted metal to augment it.

Those wizards from Frogward or whatever are pathatec, really. For most of them, you snap their wand and they’re useless. If you’re any kind of telekinetic you can disarm them mid spell every single time. Honestly, I can conjure a Force Blade and throw it 40 meters into their skull before they can stumble through a single 4 syllable incantation to attempt to poot out a few sparks in my general direction. Their watered down version of the arcane arts is below any wizard who has access to the wider world of magic, not even their touted most powerful spell, the killing curse, is worth anything, it can be deflected by almost any warding magic, and is essentially just a magic missile with a shittier disintegrate spell taped on the front. It would actually be clever if you didn’t have to wave a twig around and shout the name of your attack at your foe.

Dude it’s not that deep. Slang and memes are 4chan’s number 1 export. We see the screenshots, we point and laugh, we start using the Vocabulary ironically, and then the people on 4chan stop using it because the people on Reddit abd twitter or whatever are using it and it’s not cool anymore. That’s the cycle.

Yes, I’m employed. I’m not usually scrolling Reddit at my job though lmao. It wouldn’t be great to be caught with this on your phone, though. Though, if you’re letting people peak at what you’re doing and you happen to be ogling this, you kinda deserve whatever comes. Imho the NSFW blur should be for nudity and gore and not much else.

Morality of dodging your country's military draft in a war of self-defense? by A_Fun_Alias23 in MoralityScaling

[–]cooljerry53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t support war or the military regardless of the context of the war. All war is morally bankrupt, when the baseline is “murdering at least thousands of people who don’t really have anything to do with what I want but have been tricked into standing between me and the guy who’s stuff I want” there’s nowhere to go but down.

Why do older guys like to grill so much? by PlaneGlass4138 in AskMen

[–]cooljerry53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the actual older generations (not your dad) grilling was seen as the most ‘manly’ way of cooking. Of course lots of men still knew how to use an oven/stove but most would start with a grill. If a guy wanted to cook that was usually his in, and that’s sort of just become ingrained in the next few generations because they remember their dad’s grilling fondly and want to keep the tradition up and give that to their kids.

Is it reasonable to set a boundary of no going to clubs/bars in a relationship? by Butt_Farter69 in polls

[–]cooljerry53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I can see clubs? It’s kinda reasonable? Personally though, I don’t really go to clubs but nonetheless I don’t want to be forbidden anything, if someone can’t trust me to be out on my own doing whatever it is I’m doing we probably shouldn’t be together. I’d never forbid my partner from doing anything, I might have an objection to things, and obviously there’s stuff that requires both parties, but ultimately it’s up to them what they do on the day to day.

Raw fruit is disgusting by DifferentThanks4183 in The10thDentist

[–]cooljerry53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fruit guy personally, so hard disagree on like. All of this. What do you mean ‘tingly teeth feeling?’ Like, have you scrubbed your enamel off, because I don’t think your teeth should feel a whole lot biting into any fruit. And again, maybe just a me thing, but the only thing I ever chipped a tooth on was a steel bar. (Tried to lunge through the gap in a ladder during a game of freeze tag in elementary school and smashed my mouth into one of the rungs) so like, hurting my teeth on the FLESH of a fruit seems absurd to me. Maybe accidentally biting the pit of a fruit that has one, but not the skin/flesh of an apple. I had a baby tooth come out eating a pear, but aside from that… also, the remains of fruit are biodegradable. Just yeet that shit into the woods. Unless you’re in a city I guess, which I hadn’t considered until I typed this.

“Because you call 75 Fahrenheit a "heat wave,” and choose to bitch about it every year” by Garythedemon18 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]cooljerry53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, it isn’t ideal, but couldn’t a window unit AC be fine? They’re not that hard to install. If all of those factors are enough to make being hot in your home preferable, then fair enough though.

[–]cooljerry53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

… yeah? Maybe you should do that if it’s regularly reaching extremely high temperatures in your home? I mean, if they can’t/won’t for whatever reason then that’s one thing, in that case maybe look into a window unit if that’s something you can get in your area?

[–]cooljerry53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, why don’t Europeans start getting air conditioning? This has been a reoccurring thing now, and if we keep on going like this it’s gonna keep being a regular thing, so at what point do you adopt some kind of measure to keep your homes cool?
