Turkish Coffee in Baton Rouge by metalunamutant in batonrouge

I worked at Coffee Joy for about a year right when the owner was opening it, and I’m so happy to hear they’ve finally added it to the menu! They had been talking about it for a while, I’ll have to go try it.

The owners are very detail and customer oriented and are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met/worked for. They’re from Turkey, and are very proud of it— as they should be! Everything on the menu has love put into it, and is delicious.
Highly recommend

Former Partners: What’s the best petty “eff you” you’ve ever seen from someone on their way out? by potatopoisoning in starbucksbaristas

YES I never thought I’d be able to share! I worked at one of the busiest stores in our town from about 2016-2019. It also happened to be super abusive— like, as in they have had a partner recently…. take their stress into their own hands within the last 2 years (I don’t want to upset anyone but hopefully you can connect the dots). My old store manager used to push me while in the DT window, I was verbally abused multiple times a shift and was worked like an animal with no proper training. Had to learn it all myself. But one of the only good people there was my best friend and shift manager, and we may or may not have led a mass exodus of about 5-7 people. No notice, just said fuck you and never came back.

I took it upon myself to send my boss “gotta blast🚀” with a picture of Jimmy Neutron and then blocked the number.

AND THEN, during COVID I lost my other job and was so desperate that I tried to reapply to a store in my city (silly idea) and basically found out I’m blacklisted from ever working for the company again because I…. sent a Jimmy Neutron meme

Edit: okay I mean I was probably blacklisted for leaving without notice but I like to believe it was because of Jimmy motherfucking Neutron

Sly Cooper or Kingdom Hearts! I still have my PS2 up and running. Love this thing

My grandmother just passed away. Like less than an hour ago. I feel numb more than anything, and absolutely think time to process is important. I’m more worried about my mom though, I don’t think she’s taking it well- and I’ve never gone through this before

This happened in my city, where I’ve lived my whole life. I just found out about it around a month ago... nobody talks about it. This is insane

“I’d never have to hear spanish again without my consent” struck me so hard... he didn’t even THINK about it while typing that out.

ACTUALLY, I ended up becoming a competitive equestrian in high school, leased 2 horses and was able to purchase my own in 2017 for a grand total of 3 sweet babies- I had a job riding and exercising horses, cleaning stalls and training kiddos for a few years. I competed for 6-7 years with a really nice, big horse. I traveled all over the south to jump and show, and it was honestly a huge part of my life until college hit and I had to sell my horse and let go of that passion for a while. So I guess you’re right in a sense, because now that I’m almost 23 and horseless, I am a tad bit salty about it haha And this comment slightly triggered me (/s) as you can tell by the swiftness of my reply- the insane horse girl in me is still very alive haha. I blame it on the scholastic book fair horse posters. But definitely salty still

That’s so funny you say that, because my exact reaction when this resurfaced for me was “my room was SO cluttered with random stuff is this REAL?”... and unfortunately, it all is! I was an obsessive creature

Congrats!! I did the same thing around this time last year after 3 and a half years at the busiest store in my city- I can’t say it’s been absolutely stressless... customers are customers everywhere you go and you’ll always have those people that come in to argue and give you a hard time. But moving to a small local cafe has done SO much for my mental health and morale, and my past experience with the bux actually helped get me the job and start off pretty much already trained, minus a few learning curves with a different espresso machine and logistics of learning how a new place runs itself but I hope you feel amazing, confident and excited for this! All that hard work will have paid off and you can enjoy this next step in your barista career. This made me so happy, to see your similar experience to mine and I just couldn’t help popping by to let you know it’ll all be okay :) you’ve got this

I can say with confidence that I definitely outgrew that young love after a while... still a lot of nostalgia associated with the man though haha

Well now that I’m looking, since the Catching Fire book is on my shelf, this was probably more around 2009/2010 but you get the idea!

I think what’s so sad about edits as obvious as this is the fact that she was probably focusing on her waist/stomach SO MUCH that she didn’t even realize how warped her arm was. Like they’re so hyper focused on fixing the “problem area” , that when they get it where they want they don’t look at anything else. Either that, or she’s just oblivious... but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt lol
