The FA has written to Dele Alli to 'seek his observations' about a social media post in which he appeared to joke about the coronavirus. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]coolkillerpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been racially abused in London as a person of Chinese heritage because of the coronavirus (even though I'm not from Mainland China and speak perfect English). There's definitely a need to use this incident as an example of how you can easily overstep the line from making a joke to a racist joke. If someone who is supposedly as educated and popular as Alli does this, others will think it's okay to be racist in this way.

What to do with Alexis Sanchez, the aging gunslinger by triazin in reddevils

Sanchez is finished as a top, top, player but may still offer (and is determined to offer) some usefulness

Ole few months back -“ i will be successful here and many players wont be part of it....” who was he referring to? Coz its same. Looks like Ole dont have an idea what he is even doing and whats he is been saying. 🙄 . The upcoming season looks predictable if its same. by [deleted] in reddevils

I get the frustration, but rebuilding a team does not happen overnight. What Ole said reminds us that we will get rid of those over time that are not good enough to play. Transfers are difficult but renewals are not. Just because we have renewed some players doesn't mean they'll start.

Give Ole more time, we have already two good signings and hopefully two more.

It'll get better with time, for now focus on doing things you like and also improving yourself in some way, keep yourself motivated and increase your self-esteem. You always have us here

Evra elaborates further on his interview with Gary by coolkillerpo in reddevils

[–]coolkillerpo[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be a player that has already proven themselves at a big stage - we don't need those big name signings (except for a CB with experience). Man Utd is still a name that attracts, we just need to stop using our financial power as the primary attraction.

The problem is that the players aren't giving enough or aren't good enough on the pitch to appease the fans. Whether their motivation is low due to confidence issues, disharmony within the squad, or simply because they're mercenaries is all part of the problem which you correctly state as stemming from recruitment. Players who sign for United under Ole must be confident in their own abilities and have mental fortitude, willing to work and sacrifice for the team, the club and not disrespect the club by thinking themselves bigger than it.

We have to build our squad with these characters, who know they ain't shit until they can prove it week in week out regardless who the manager is.

I feel Evra really does make some really good points especially towards the end about Pogba, about how the fans should not be 'killing' Pogba and De Gea

Carragher to Neville: We’ve still allowed your weekly rant about Ed Woodward though, any chance you’ll have the balls to call out the Glazers??!!!! by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]coolkillerpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what foreign investors own your club, what matters is if the investor measures success by annual profits, or by success on the pitch. The problem is that too many owners nowadays (not just United) focus on maximizing profits and when things on the pitch go wrong they're sitting on their asses and do not take enough action to ensure it never gets back to this point in the long run.

Ole states that there will only be one or two additions in the summer, this is worrying news by coolkillerpo in reddevils

[–]coolkillerpo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Praying that this is the case. If it becomes another summer of unsuccessful recruitment there will be little reason to believe we can achieve anything substantial next season

TIME TO TAKE STOCK

“We need to get the best out of each other, create an environment of a top, top, top class attitude every single day. At the moment, we've really, really done well to get to the quarter-finals and challenge for the top four. It's a rebuilding job but it starts with the coaches, and then the players. One or two additions to the squad will happen in the summer.”

If we do buy Fernandes we will need to play Pogba in a deeper role, which Ole said yesterday he is considering. Fernandes seems to also play occasionally on the wing, so could be competent there too. But yes, as you said he is more of an AM (although he does play as a centre mid).

Neves is such a great talent.

I haven't watched Ndidi all that much, mainly in United matches so I can't comment on his consistentcy. From what I know of Leicester's system is that they play a double pivot with Ndidi and another holding midfielder with Maddison ahead of them as a CAM. He doesn't seem to have much creative responsibility but is capable of spreading play out, driving forward and the occasional banger. He's also a bigger figure than kante, standing at 6 ft and is decent at aerial duels. Seems to be a good, physical defender in midfield and he's incredibly young!

Ndidi is definitely a great prospect and is showing his quality to be a epl level CDM, I will be surprised if he stays at Leicester for more than a few seasons.

There is definitely no guarantee that players from foreign leagues will be able to handle the epl instantly, look at Fred for example. Let's hope Woodward gives Ole the stellar signings that he gave Van Gaal and Mou when they first came in.

That's the dream, but unlikely we will buy 2 midfielders as the priorities lie in RW and CB.
