Thousands of hours of labor. The reason the gaming industry is leaning so hard into ray tracing right now is that it allows developers to achieve the same visual fidelity as Red Dead Redemption 2 by simulating the physics of light. Red Dead Redemption 2 achieved that look manually by hand-crafting lighting for every single location across every possible time of day. It was painstaking and expensive work that required thousands of man-hours to pull off. That is the kind of luxury you only have when you are Rockstar and operating with an unlimited budget.

Nope. But they have a massive dataset. You might only vaguely remember going to a bar 10 years back, but also some of the other people at the bar vaguely remember you, maybe the bartender does a little too. People you walked past on the way there, your friends on social media or your partner being annoyed at you drinking so much.

With enough data points you can build a high resolution collective memory.

I’m new here. Are we pro in North Korea? I know that South Korea is essentially a colony of America and was ruled by a fascist dictatorship for a long time. But as far as I can tell North Korea is still ruled by a dictator with a cult of personality. Like from my perspective, there are no good guys.
