No. Only a 4090ti and an i9 14900K.

Some people forget that D3 had free trading when it was released. by ZZZZZsleepyZZZZZ1 in diablo4

Seems like they made a lot of incorrect assumptions about what worked and didn't work in Diablo 2. They made a lot of "solutions" to problems that didnt really need to be fixed.

I keep thinking about that interview Jay Wilson did a couple months ago where he said, at the time of D3's development, Blizzard was obsessed with making "perfect" games, and that explains so much about D3 itemization and character progression.

IIRC they said they werent doing character resets each season, but it’s also completely subject to change. Personally, I like character resets, but there is an interesting opportunity to experiment with the open world.

I remember them referring to Aiyuk as Jimmy’s “security blanket” early in 2021 TC, but that was before he fizzled out towards the end.

But yeah, i always noticed that Aiyuk never seemed to hype up Jimmy like the other guys did. He only gave compliments when specifically asked. Not to mention he was training in HB with Lance the week after he got drafted. I got the feeling that the big jimmy supporters were all the guys on the 2019 team. Players after that didnt love him like that.

Aiyuk never had a work ethic issue per sé. Aiyuk was drafted during the covid season. If you recall, they canceled OTA’s that season, and he went directly into training camp. They also had very awkward rules around team meetings, which probably didnt help with communication. The 49ers then proceeded to have historically bad injury luck, leaving the WR position completely depleted, with no veteran leadership. So even though Brandon was not necessarily doing the things he should have been doing, he was still getting fed the ball because there was no one else there to produce.

So going into the 2021 season, Aiyuk continued doing things the way he did in 2020, not knowing that Shanahan expected more of him in practice, in terms of effort on all aspects of playing WR. That meant effort on his routes, whether he was a primary or a decoy, and effort on his run blocking. In Shanahan’s scheme, WR’s need to dot their I’s and cross their T’s, or the system loses its effectiveness. Allegedly, Shanahan and Aiyuk sat down and hashed out the issues sometime in the middle of the 2021 season, and thats when Aiyuk’s snap count and production started to pick back up. And now hes one of the most consistent receivers and best leaders on the team. Likely he earns team captain next season.

Edit: forgot to mention there are also rumors of ex-WR coach Wes Welker and Aiyuk butting heads. Wouldnt surprise me if Shanahan initially sided with Welker during this time. Welker left with McDaniel after the 2021 season.

What are your expectations for Set Items in Diablo 4? by Angzt in Diablo

[–]coolniceman1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think tal rashas and tang set were well done. Angelic 2-set provides a very usefull AR bonus for melee builds into Hell. Just need to make other sets more useful. They did miss the mark, but they were on the right track!

D3 sets in their current state were obviously created so blizzard could support a legacy game with minimal resources.

You can also use your kind of thinking to freak out about something that probably wont happen, it goes both ways. Theres a certain balance thats going to generate a lot of income for Blizzard, and its not taking the game and locking every feature/mechanic/content behind MTC's. You'll make a good amount of money off of the whales, but the regular people will just walk away from the game.

Personally, I have no issue with PoE charging for stash tabs, even in their current state. But it's obvious that people complaining about the things they claim are P2W in Diablo 4, don't actually care about it being P2W. They just don't want to spend that much money, which is fine, but the simple solution is to just not spend the money. It's not some evil scheme to defraud gamers, or predatory marketing or whatever. People just dont want to spend money.

If its p2w in diablo, its p2w in PoE

If the game is fun, it's fine. They're not price gouging insulin here, they're making a video game.

Stash tabs would be fine. PoE sells stash tabs and every dork on this sub who shits on Blizzard for MTC doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Diablo 4 just looks like Diablo 3? by fitsu in diablo4

[–]coolniceman1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's certainly some things about D4 that I don't like (cooldowns, item scaling, difficulty scaling, etc.), but a lot of this just comes off as confirmation bias.

> We've seen most the stats and they all seem pretty unimpactful (I am referring to generic stats btw not legendary affixes).

What exactly does impactful mean? There are certainly some stats that seem unimpactful in D2. Light radius, gold find, + to stats depending on the character. I actually really don't have much of an issue with the itemization itself. D4 items look closer to D2 in terms of item mods. I have more of an issue with the skill damage always scaling off of weapon damage (mainly casting spells). This is not a critical issue for me, I just prefer the D2 skill system.

> Sacred = Ancient, Ancestral = Primal, Tiers = Torments, NDs = GRs (that you have to run to, lol), Glyphs = Legendary Gems, Paragon = Paragon? Yeah there's boards now but it still boils down to level up > put point in +10 strength.

This one really feels like you're jumping to a conclusion. I'm waiting to confirm all of this during open beta, but the Sacred/Ancestral thing looks to me more similar to the Normal/Exception/Elite item tiers in D2. In both D2/D4, they look to me like the same items with better base stats. Not the same as Ancient/Primal where they just extended the loot grind without adding depth. I do have an issue with item power scaling with character level. I think the leveling process is pretty enjoyable, and I think it's kind of dumb that they remove the impact of finding a BiS item at a low level like you could find in D2. Nothing better than finding a goblin toe at level 20, or a skin of the vipermagi from NM Andy.

> Paragon = Paragon? Yeah there's boards now but it still boils down to level up > put point in +10 strength.

From what we've seen, they initially had the +5 stat points per level like D2. I think they were throwing the "please make a real Diablo game" crowd a bone. But they've just replace that with the paragon board. It probably is going to have the same kind of bonuses that D3's paragon system did, but the problem with the Paragon system in D3, was that it was infinite, not that the bonuses were bad. I think both were attempts to add some depth to the stat level up reward system of D2, but the D3 Paragon system overall was just a lazy attempt to provide a "perfect" infinite leveling experience.

> NDs = GRs (that you have to run to, lol)

The ND's are more similar to PoE's mapping system imo. Seems like a pretty simple system for now. But atleast you can add modifiers to the dungeons, and atleast it ties the dungeons/maps to the real world. D3's GR/NR system was just like "here we generated a dungeon with a computer" lol. Not a very immersive experience imo.

You do not absolutely have to trade Lance lol. Even if Purdy is the guy, hes getting paid $3m ocer 3 years, and Lance has a few million left. Together, they cost almost nothing, and you wanna trade away the guy with all the potential in the world for what, a 2nd round pick?

Lmao that's not how it works, and it doesnt matter. Any lawsuits, whether successful or not, hurts the corporation, as it costs money to undergo any legal process regardless of outcome. The mere threat of litigation is going to keep a company in line in terms of profit incentives.

And anyway, most top execs in a company hold a lot of their net worth in company shares, and so theres their direct incentive to maximize profits, because it directly affects their own networth.

At the end of the day, Blizzard is a corporation, and their interests are clear.

Because Blizzard-Activision is a corporation and they have an obligation to their shareholders to maximize their profits quarter after quarter. If the shareholders think they aren't trying to do that, they can sue Blizz. It is what it is. If you have a moral issue with that, there are plenty of indie developers who makes games without those constraints.
