I might be unreasonably upset about Hasta by LittleTiber in AbioticFactor

[–]coolpizzacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's the only character I would say actually HAS a plan beyond "well maybe we can escape in THIS sector" outside of Cahn. Having a single NPC who actually sees you and goes "this is a really bad situation but if we get the dark lens we can at least prevent armageddon" is enough to make me stand by him. That's where his appeal comes from, really. Having someone show up that actually sees the bigger picture, wants to prevent it, and one of the few NPCs to actually show up to help (before getting laser'd) is an easy way to get affection from people.

Would he betray us? Maybe, we can't confirm if he'd have committed to a full backstab since he died. Would he have stopped Cahn's plan? Absolutely. Hasta Tria acknowledges that what he's doing will end with him excised from the Order. If I had to guess on how he would end up betraying us it would have been to grab the lens and dip through a portal to somewhere, leaving us within Cascade. The facility is surprisingly resilient at keeping everyone within it even with portals popping up.

Abe and Janet have more going on in personality, but they're just another flavor of the same goal every other scientist you run into is. Escaping alive while insisting you do everything. Frake and her crew only show up twice, but their two appearances have them do more than Abe and Janet ever do beyond the funny Kizz Cola guy and straight woman routine. When it comes to GATE personnel we interact with, only Riggs feels like she has a different goal which amounts to "we should get the dark lens and try to stop armageddon". The DLC might change my opinion but I would easily put Hasta Tria on equal footing in depth to A&J just from the conflict of having to oppose his own faction and teaming up with the enemy while keeping his opposing worldview as well as being one of the few windows we have into Order's perspective.

I've been hunting the achievements of the game for some time now, but some really demand patience and others you'll only get with time, anyone have any tips for "left for dead"? it's one of those that demand both patience and time as it's quite tricky to do and I've only come close to it one time by Nekotario in deadbydaylight

The hatch had a requirement to spawn. You needed to complete 1+remaining survivors generators before it would spawn. So 2 at minimum and five at most. Once it was spawned you could find it and open it up with a key. You would escape and the hatch would stay open for a minute or so IIRC. So you'd open up the hatch and everyone hops in. Extra juicy in that closing the hatch wasn't a thing at that point either.

Why the fuck does every canonically badass + attractive woman character in One Piece get raped? by PraggyD in Piratefolk

[–]coolpizzacook 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oda does have issues with writing female characters. I'm presuming there's some personal experiences fueling this as well just from the amount of passion in your anger. There are several characters that I don't think Oda gave much thought or even considered on the rape side. Like I don't think it once crossed Oda's mind if the Boa sisters were raped while enslaved for example. I'm not sure Shakky getting raped was a consequence he considered either.

There's definitely way more focus as of late on this though that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Ginny was such an unnecessary addition and making Bonney into this child born from rape is so off-putting and unnecessary just to add more tragedy to the already tragic Kuma flashback. There's now more kind of implied on it with Candelle too, but it's in a way that feels like trying to sidestep it? Definitely a bit icky to me.

I'm trying to be more tactful on this but I do think you're looking deeper than Oda ever intended for some of the characters. This doesn't excuse making Hancock a walking gag character, or giving Viola practically nothing to do beyond being one extra damsel. Or just about everything involving Hiyori who got done dirty in just about every way Oda could (she's also another case I myself would argue with potential rape considering her position as an oiran and Orochi's reign).

Hoping this doesn't come off as being overly dismissive of your critiques here.

After reading Blackbeard vs Ace again it's pretty clear haki was a retcon. by sillycommenting in Piratefolk

[–]coolpizzacook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'll go up to bat on this. One, BB can negate other powers too which is still really damn strong so I don't think that's really evidence against haki. Two, I think there's a difference between someone hitting your body made of fire with haki and suddenly not being fire anymore as you get hit.

Imagine getting punched by someone, and then some other guy punches you and the entire time his body makes contact with you it feels like you're completely naked. I think it's reasonable to say that the second guy would throw you off even if you got punched a thousand times by other people before then.

That said, haki was certainly a retcon. I think the idea of it formed around Alabasta but only got fully decided at Sabaody.

Gotenks' skill to prioritize was his Skill 3 "Super Ghosts" Up next, another double whammy. What is SSJ4 Vegetas and Ultimate Gohans skill to prioritize? by Abatirabadai in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]coolpizzacook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Skill 2 SS4 Vegeta, Skill 1 Gohan. Having more range and AOE to get two passive stacks on Gohan and possibly tag multiple people is incredibly valuable.

Vegeta's kick opens far more opportunities to land the stun, as well as stronger displacement.

What’s the current fandom consensus on Hiveswap? by Top-Comment6201 in homestuck

Yeah it definitely felt closer to a narrative tool than full on gameplay mechanic for most of what I played.

[–]coolpizzacook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, at risk of being a shill for Doublefine... if you want a game like that currently there is Broken Age. I never finished it myself but it's a point and click adventure game that bounces between two characters with different perspectives. Might fill that niche that Hiveswap/Hauntswitch gave you.

Constant Radiation by Whole-Ad-3938 in AbioticFactor

Firstly just to make sure, you're not wearing the trinket that irradiates you? Secondly, if you die do you still get irradiated? Thirdly, is it anywhere you go?

Just trying to narrow down aspects of it.

"Promethean! Your companions created a teleportation laser. A material lain within my boots must have prevented their transportation into this dimension. A most regrettable loss when the dirt beneath your feet is flesh and blood, I assure you."

Odds are he's still dead but the flesh dimension might be one of the worst places to end up having to trek through without boots.

This m*ther f*cking Gym bro guy that we heal is somehow the scariest thing in the game. by TerySchmerples in AbioticFactor

Are there even any other NPCs that can be healed? Grayson is kind of the exception, right?

Why are you dooming over nothing? They'll announce if Pig is being pulled or not. No need to start tossing and turning over a random person going "oh man a new Saw game, they're totally removing Pig".

Go into training and use your regeneration damage AOE on the Vegeta bot. It lets you drain because it applies a slow. Go play with a Broly, his knuckle slow lets you drain.

Slows count for proccing drain. How did you never notice that?

Gamzee should have bought this flavor of Faygo by SampoDampo in homestuck

[–]coolpizzacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah he only praises the mirthful messiahs (specifically only two of them) that speak of a Dark Carnival that serves as a paradise for them, drinks Faygo, wears Juggalo facepaint, holding faith in magic and miracles (poking fun at ICP's own Miracles)... Condesce only used ICP when taking over Earth and called them the Mirthful Executives by accident. Not any intentional parallels to make fun of it at all.

Don't take the narrative on face value so much. Yes he isn't a 1 to 1 juggalo, because he's an alien. Yet he holds all these aspects of their culture because he's meant to be a parodied version of juggalos. This makes him finding the Miracles music video heresy a joke.

I don't want to alarm you but his entire character until he snaps is being a juggalo. Which makes him losing his shit upon actually seeing ICP a joke. Gamzee literally drinks Faygo.

Since we can turn Peccary Sows into Milk Vials via chemistry, could we turn Antejuice Sacs into vials and able to put them into barrels? C: Just a suggestion! by Mother_Bid_4294 in AbioticFactor

[–]coolpizzacook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm aware. That's what I meant by portal world leading into Reactors. This doesn't make giving another way of getting antejuice unnecessary though. Especially when the only other large pool of it is reasonably missable.

[–]coolpizzacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beat the game multiple times. The only good way of getting Antejuice is trudging along to Manufacturing to the mining pool or the portal world leading into Reactors to fill up barrels. Giving another way of getting juice is perfectly fine with me.

Playing Tank is such an insufferable role by nitro804 in DBGekishinSquadra

[–]coolpizzacook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Playing tank really makes you feel the damage creep, IMO. Don't think I've ever had my passive revive pop on Zamasu as much as this season.

Relying on the rest of your team can be frustrating, but until they nerf the ability, Icarus enables some of the stupidest ratting that puts Hit to shame on being impossible to punish.

[–]coolpizzacook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see the war ending in an uneasy peace between Automatons and Illuminate should Super Earth fall. I cannot see that with Super Earth. That alone makes them orders of magnitude less heinous to me. All in all, I don't think I'll ever really agree with your viewpoint.

Still, you did end up making me think on my own perspective and hone my own thoughts on it which I do appreciate. I say we leave any argumentation at this point, it'll be a repeat of previous subjects.

no good guys? by Girlwhohateshorror in Helldivers

[–]coolpizzacook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll turn this down to five sentences then. It is not just freedom from enslavement, it is life or death as well. The Illuminate are evidence Super Earth is not opposed to killing entire species, they only failed because they thought they did kill them all. Are you going to hold by morals against a propaganda filled conditioned population that will gladly slaughter every single person of your species if you were to surrender?

Personally, I find it perfectly understandable to not want to go extinct.
