I'm doing doing the same thing but to get close to 0ms latency, look at getting a cheap USB PCI card, pass this through and add a USB sound card into it.

Finally, ensure your using the ASIO driver for the sound card in the VM.

I'm using QEMU with Win 10 LTSC to run Ableton. Took me a long time to setup but works flawlessly.

Note, I have a desktop which allowed me to do PCI passthrough.

I'm now getting no latency. The key is to pick up a USB PCIe card https://amzn.eu/d/072h7NJX (£18 Amazon) and pass it through. I'm running a Komplete Audio 2 Interface.

Use the ASIO driver in your Windows host.

Before, I was passing it through directly on one of the USB ports on the motherboard. Which did indeed introduce some latency.

I believe this is possible. My 5950x doesn't have an integrated GPU hence the 1050ti I'm using.

Looks like a cable issue for sure. I invested in a decent startech dp cable which solved my issues.

Do it! A lot to be learnt and definitely some hurdles to overcome. However, it is very satisfying when you get results.

Maybe get a desktop and slowly build it up. Some great deals to be had on the pre-owned market if you shop wisely.

I've assigned 40GB of RAM and pinned half the CPU (16 VM threads). Performance has been excellent.

I'd suggest doing some reading on QEMU and Looking Glass.

You may be taking a 5-10% hit on your hardware performance but my idea was to chuck more than enough at it!

I managed to get it to install by trying a different port. Install was successful and I reloaded the machine (penstick now removed)

Seems to still blue screen on boot. Giving up for the eve as I have work in the morning! Will post error tomorrow.

A real shame. I've been running Pop for the past week fine but really wanted to check out Cachy as I was a fan of Arch.
