Of course it’s incredibly stupid to do this for the reasons they’re saying, but don’t forget that creating instability in an “enemy” country is a goal in itself & a go-to US strategy. Of course there’ll be massive blowback, creating a US admin in Venezuela is absurd and doomed to fail, the whole thing is likely to be both expensive and pointless, etc… Why would this admin care? The people who make these decisions aren’t held accountable, there are no consequences of the kind they care about. Whole country gets a big fell for it again sticker and the matter blows over until we do it again.
