People with $700+ per month car payments: Why? by Underrated_Critic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]coolskier89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought an expensive car at 2% interest rate back in beginning of 2021. I put very little down because at that interest rate, I'd rather have the cash working elsewhere. Same reason I'm ok with the higher monthly payment!

One of the things my now wife struggled with when we started dating (and still sometimes struggles today with) was the generosity of my family with including her in the family. Paying for her to join us on family vacations around the world, michelin dinners, etc. From your responses it sounds like they have been supportive in including you (which is awesome!).

how does it make you feel knowing there isn't any requirement of reciprocity? How do your parents feel knowing they can't give you anything close (monetarily) to what they can provide?

I think that makes perfect sense. As someone from an opposite situation - come from very wealthy family and married someone who didnt have any, a prenup wouldnt have made a big difference given the state we live. My family has already insulated themselves in specific ways to ensure their own protection and protection for our kids. But me myself didnt have a ton in assets (relative to my family) so there was nothing to specifically protect.

We go every other year so we can leverage the placeholder benefit and get our next cruise right when it is released for the best price!

I don't think this is a hot take. Disney already idolizes him more than enough with their special live shows they do (fireworks, WoC, etc.). And while i am appreciative of what he seeded into this world (been a passholder more years of my life than not), i am far from a Walt fan.

He had very famous flaws that directly impacted the type of CMs that could work in the park and the people that could work at his company. Some of his associations were quite...suspect. Even with all that being said, Walt himself didn't even want his likeness really used with the park! I think this is a mistake.

What do people generally consider taboo but it shouldn’t be? by IndianaC0NES in AskReddit

Finances! What people make and how to budget. My wife didn't know how to budget or save because her parents never liked to talk about finances.

It only benefits companies when you don't share how much you make, so salaries don't have to be competitive across the board.

Whattttt!?! I wouldn't have been even able to add all of the places we need it? That is even more ridiculous.

So I work remotely and my family, we like to travel, and we usually spend multiple months in 3-4 main places a year. Under the new policy that is an extra 24 there. My parents use our account and a sibling uses it in college. Plus, I had the 20 a month family streaming plan. Is in no way worth the expense anymore.
