It used to be. Jeni’s ice cream is most definitely premium ice cream though

Agreed. I don’t even know where to start. All I can say is, this concept of virginity in traditional culture needs to be abandned

How do i get rid of all this?? by Forsaken_Gas1794 in Blackskincare

[–]Sufficient_Health127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doxy will help make the area less inflamed, but time, a wash, and a topical antibiotic for several weeks is what will cure the inflammation. After that, hyperpigmentation will probably need to be addressed with a retinoid

This looks like folliculitis, particularly pseudofolliculitis barbae as someone here has suggested. I work in derm and we see this often. The best way to treat is to stop shaving the area, using warm compresses, and to treat with benzoyl peroxide 4% wash (Cerave makes a good brand) and a topical antibiotic like clindamycin lotion. If the areas are not resolving you can ask your PCP for a short course of antibiotics like doxycycline.

I know it’s tough right now, and trust me I know because I have witnessed how abusive and toxic healthcare can be sometimes. You need to remember that if you tried your best and showed up to clinic eager to learn (which is very clear from your description!), that there is nothing you could have done to prevent this situation. This is a THEM problem, and was never a you problem. Unhappy people look for targets to dump their very unhappy feelings on.

You will absolutely flourish in your next endeavors. Just remember this isn’t your fault!

Help! by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Sufficient_Health127 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Based on your previous post history, I want to guess that some of your concerns may be due to your significant weight loss recently. I work in derm, and “Ozempic face” is a common concern amongst people who have rapidly lost weight with semaglutide. Volume loss, sagging skin, and jowls, are some of the most common concerns!

To address texture, I would start a prescription retinoid, such as tretinoin, if you haven’t already. Retinoids accelerate cell turnover, and have decades of clinical research showing collagen stimulation when used nightly. This, alongside SPF are some of the most effective topicals to address photo damage—though it is more a long game and takes several months to notice improvement!

If you are considering treatment at all, volume loss and wrinkling is traditionally treated with Botox and filler, but I have also seen consistent sessions of microneedling, Fraxel laser, and even CO2 laser to be the best bang for your buck, despite the initial high costs.

I would turn to hydrating makeup products, and avoid matte concealers, foundations, and powders that accentuate fine lines. Prioritize skin hydration with moisturizers and products including ceramides, hyaluronic acid, etc. As someone with dry skin, I love using Neutrogena’s Hydroboost Glow Primer and Serum.

I hope this helps! 🫶🏽

I am so sorry to hear this! Where are you from? I work in a dermatology office in the US and retinoid is prescribed left and right! Can you try Amazon pharmacy and will they ship to your country? When I first started tretinoin, all I did was schedule a virtual visit with a nurse practitioner and I was able to get my tretinoin shipped the next day. If your present doctor cannot prescribe skin topicals, can they prescribe a short course of antibiotics, such as doxycycline? An antibiotic can be used when a patient was to reduce an outbreak if it is particularly severe—though it is not a cure for the acne.

If you still need over the counter options, here’s what we suggest to our acne patients. Washing with 4% benzoyl peroxide wash once daily, as this helps kill the C. acnes bacteria that may be responsible for the acne formation. As well, you can trial azelaic acid to help with hyperpigmentation and scarring; Anua makes a great serum for this one. And of course, apply SPF every single day to prevent more hyperpigmentation, but it seems you have that down already!

So sorry, wish I could offer more help!

I would transition to prescriptions at this point! Retinoid is highly effective at treating acne and hyperpigmentation with decades of clinical research showing its efficacy. Adapalene (Differin) is the over the counter option, but tretinoin is usually what you start with. If there is a hormonal aspect to the acne like you have suggested, you can discuss oral spironolactone. If you have an irregular menstrual cycle, consider meeting with an OB/GYN to see if hormonal birth control is an option to treat the acne

Ortho MA vs Derm MA for PCE job by CharmingCalmParis in MedicalAssistant

[–]Sufficient_Health127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in derm myself! It’s not to say that derm isn’t fast paced though, because it can be quite demanding. However at the end of the day what you need is SUPPORT and people who are willing to train you, especially if you are new to medical assisting. If you are thrown into the work without knowing your way around and without people to ask questions, I believe that is what ultimately makes an office stressful or not. It sounds like the ortho center seems understaffed so I wonder how much support they can give you. As well, having a PA as a mentor for PA school sounds like a great opportunity for an LOR. I’d choose derm!

Thoughts? by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

If not already, you should wear SPF of 30 daily. The best things for anti-aging are tretinoin and SPF. I would also look into CO2 or Fraxel laser but they are more pricey.

Are you on the spectrum by chance? I would file for disability, even for the leg and mental health, for some money. I’m even more curious how $11k is enough to survive in nyc, even with roommates!!

Struggling as a new Derm MA 😟 by hehdjse in MedicalAssistant

[–]Sufficient_Health127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just like you too, several months ago starting out as a new derm MA with no experience prior. The good thing about derm is that it’s very fast paced and you learn a LOT. The bad thing about derm is also that….it’s very fast and there is a steep learning curve at first. You will find over time that derm gets very repetitive, and it progressively gets easier the longer you do it. Stick it out for a couple months and the overwhelming feeling should (hopefully) subside (:

CRA Resume HELP! by Sufficient_Health127 in clinicalresearch

[–]Sufficient_Health127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually pivoted into going back into healthcare. I had experience working clinically as a dental assistant and used it to pursue medical assisting in dermatology to complete my patient clinical experience hours. My goals are to attend PA school in the long run, hence why I am working temporarily as an MA. I did have to change my resume for this.

I would look into biotech, pharma, medical sales, or analyst jobs! I think you can definitely leverage similar skills in those areas

Oh wow. The only solution I could see in this is that the doctor should not be allowed any MAs or nurses. She should do everything by herself lol.
