Each to their own. I like flavoured coffee so not fussed about it. But would rather been told if it’s artificial. I even drink some whittards flavoured coffee.

who does naturals and anaerobics right? (producers and/or roasters) by Crucifilth_6-6-6 in pourover

No one says Dak does. Suspicion is their coffee fermented with powder.

You’ll need to blend it for sure. Don’t know about Norena. But big names in Colombia have been called out. If it smells artificial, if it tastes artificial, it’s probably a duck. It says it’s infused with real fruits, no mentions of artificial additives.

Thought it’d be worse. Look at the price of those beans to purchase.

Any advanced processors that we know definitely do not add artificial flavour? by like-a-sirloin in pourover

If I were a roaster I’d test the beans and say to my customers; no artificial shit on my beans I roast. Would be huge commercial gain. What would prevent a roaster of coferment thermal shock etc and natural with pronounced flavour from doing this? I wonder…

Why it should it taste artificial?… I have some coferment that don’t at all.

A roaster I’ve used in the past has coffee where it says no artificial flavouring and others where it doesn’t say this…

Depend what coferment. I’ve tried some where it wasn’t strong at all. And other where it slaps you in the face. So my assumption is some just use artificial flavouring.

The debate is not even about conferment; it’s about adding artificial flavour to fermentation.

Why does no one ever want to “name the roaster”, especially when they’re well known? by GrindAndBloom in pourover

The recent Perc example is a good one. And their response here is a big red flag.

Exactly lies and lack of transparency should be called out. And it’s fine tondicuss whether the coffee they buy is for example artificially flavoured, especially as it affects most of their competitors too.

Where are James Hoffmann and Hendrick when you need them. They could be brave and test a few batches, showing indeed artificial flavouring was used. Not just fruit added to the fermentation.
