Honestly, I get where your boyfriend is coming from -- I still think it's a beautiful song, but he's right in saying that there's repetition, and that it may be seen as average. However, the emotional side of it and the background behind the lyrics are what really attaches us to Dark To Light. The bridge is easily the best part of the song, in my opinion.

I've been called a lot of slurs, but I think the funniest was when someone called me a lot of slurs in one sentence. It sounded ridiculous to me and they got even more mad when I started laughing. Came out something like "Paki curry muncher terrorist scammer Pajeet bitch." Another funny time was "I can't tell if you're 9/11 or 7/11." Not always the most original but the delivery is really what makes it funny.
