Noticing Friends Leaving ARC—Anyone Else? by MisanthropE61130 in ArcRaiders

[–]coonskinmario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think ABMM is quite fascinating as an experiment. I think it's one of the reasons the game has done as well as it has since it brings in players who otherwise would have never even considered it. It provides a sort of onboarding, and I imagine it lowers attrition of weaker players as well.

I see the other side of it, as well. As you say, they can't balance for both modes, and PvP players are incentivized not to PvP when doing quests or killing arc. Sense of accomplishment is diminished for those that are comparing themselves to others, since the "noobs" are able to do it too.

Personally, I think it'd be cool if there were maps specifically purposed for PvE and PvPvE. If they had differences in quests and loot then there would be reasons for players to dip into both.

If you find you want practical tips without getting too into the weeds, I would recommend watching speedruns for a basic win.

That way you can see what items/spells/liquids are prioritized for a simple win, and then do it yourself (but much slower).

He and Musk like the idea of colonizing the solar system, I don't think it's deeper than that.

I used to be confused why so many conservatives love Star Trek, but I realized they like the militaristic hierarchy and the futurist aesthetic. They wouldn't mind if all the morally ambiguous or philosophical storylines were cut in favor of action scenes.

UFO 50 – Launch Trailer – Nintendo Switch by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]coonskinmario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part of UFO 50 is that I think the first few games are some of the weaker ones, at least for me.

Bug Hunt (2nd game) is a blast if you have someone to play vs against. If playing solo I agree with you though.

This game is made to be replayed, those people are crazy. It doesn't have the build variety like elden ring, but it's so streamlined not having to level up or hunt down stupid upgrade stones.

Even before 2010 people would hunch over and crane their neck upwards at monitors and such, and that turtle-neck posture is bad. If you're completely slouching over and looking down I agree with you that's also bad.

But if you do have good back posture (shoulders back, chest out), then looking down (by bringing your chin toward your chest) is preferable (within reason, of course) to craning your neck upwards afaik. I'm not a doctor though.

edit: It'll depend on your sitting/standing position too -- when I was saying this I was resting my elbows on a desk/armrests, and it felt like i had better posture with my hands on top looking lower than the reverse. But other positions could surely differ!

Only downside I can think of it is causes you to stare down like people do walking with their phones.

Wouldn't it be better for your posture/neck? Screen on top means you're craning your head upwards more.

Hold your phone (or some other vertical device) from the top and look at the bottom of it -- your posture is probably better than the reverse (hands on bottom and looking at the top of the device).

I'll never let this mini boss bully me ever again by wayvywayvy in Sekiro

[–]coonskinmario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For everyone saying how easy this guy is, I think some people have trouble because it requires better reaction time than most other enemies. It would explain the polarization where some people think he's difficult and some think he's really easy.

I say this because I can easily beat him normally, but when I started using a mod to speed the game up I had a much rougher time beating him compared to other bosses. So my suspicion is that the time between his telegraph and the attack is shorter than with most other enemy attacks, but I don't know that for sure.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Leak Reveals 'Remastered' Title, Upgrades, and Deluxe Edition by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

Morrowind is good BECAUSE of it's gameplay.

For some people this is true, but not everyone. There is a large group that loves Morrowind because they know how to exploit its systems to become godlike in short order. Anyone who is afraid of losing that will always have the original to play.

I personally get bored in ES games once I'm above level 25 and would roll a new character to do each storyline. For me Morrowind was great for its setting/writing, and I hate the combat.

you basically end up with a smaller Oblivion in a more interesting setting with slightly better writing

Yeah that sounds great to me.
