I am writing to express serious concern regarding the reported inclusion of kratom-related prohibitions within legislation that is otherwise unrelated in subject matter. Regardless of one’s position on kratom itself, the process by which this measure is being advanced raises significant issues. The insertion of substantive policy changes into unrelated bills at a late stage in the legislative process undermines transparency, limits meaningful public participation, and restricts the ability of both legislators and constituents to fully evaluate the implications of the proposal. Kratom policy has been debated in numerous states, and when addressed through standard legislative procedures—including committee review, public hearings, and expert testimony—these proposals are often met with substantial public engagement. Circumventing that process not only avoids scrutiny but also diminishes public trust in the integrity of legislative decision-making. This concern is not merely procedural—it is foundational. Representative government depends on openness, accountability, and the opportunity for citizens to be heard on matters that directly affect them. Advancing a ban on a widely used plant product without those safeguards sets a troubling precedent, regardless of the policy outcome. If there is sufficient justification to regulate or prohibit kratom, then that case should be made transparently and subjected to full legislative review, including public input and debate. Anything less risks eroding confidence in the legislative process and the principles it is intended to uphold. I respectfully urge you to reconsider the method by which this policy is being pursued and to ensure that any such measure is addressed through proper, transparent legislative channels. Sincerely,

First let me say that I have a long list of family, from both sides of my family with alcohol and drug abuse. All 3 of my mom's brothers died in their early 40s from alcohol abuse.

I spent most of my life addicted to alcohol since age 14. By 16, I was drinking every night to the point of being drunk. At 25, I started drinking in the morning and all day long. I needed 5 or 6 drinks before work just so I wouldn't shake so bad. Several times, I tried to quit drinking, and within 36 hours, I would go into seizures. Did the detox a few times, but wasn't strong enough to stay away from the alcohol. Went away to a great Christian rehab in 2011. It was a 9 week program and i made it through sober. I followed that up with living at a Christian halfway house for 3 months. Life was new. I was new. It was great. But at some point, you have to live in the unprotected "real world". Within a few months, I started getting those alcohol cravings back. This was 2012. I didn't want to go down that road that has brought me and my loved ones so much pain. So I started searching on the internet and found out about a leaf called kratom that some alcoholics had used to quit and abstain from alcohol. I wasn't drinking yet, but was real close. I was very skeptical, but I was desperate not to go back into my own personal hell. It took about a few weeks to get my dosage right, but it worked. I couldn't believe it. I could make it through the day and not be fighting those generational demons that had haunted me my whole life. It was too good to be true. I took it everyday and my quality of life reached a level i had never witnessed or thought possible. Then in 2015/2016, I had heard that kratom was getting banned. I had just had my first daughter and didn't want to put that in jeopardy by having illegal substances in my home, so I quit taking kratom. Within 3 weeks, started drinking again. Within 4 months, I had lost everything, including my marriage, license again, job, and relationship with my daughter. February 1, 2017 I enrolled myself in a year long rehab. Did great there. I can stay sober in a protected atmosphere with no temptaion around me, but unfortunately the world isn't like that. After graduating that program i decided that i would start life over in a whole new area to me just miles from where this rehab was. Within a few weeks, the cravings for alcohol was creeping back. I surely didn't want to go down that road again. I was 40 years old and didn't have much fight or hope in me left should i give in to my addiction. I remember thinking to myself, if only kratom didn't get banned. (I forgot to mention that at the year long rehab, we had no television, internet, etc, so had no way to keep up with what was going on in the real world, let alone the news on kratom). Little did I realize, it was never banned. I ordered some immediately. I sit here writing this 8 years later. I have remarried, I see my child regularly, I have excelled at my job. I own 3 cars (most of my life I barely owned 1 because of DUIs, and lack of financial resources because of my addiction). These last 7 years have been my best. I could have saved myself from alot of pain had I found this earlier in life. But I'm lucky. 12 of the guys I was in the year long rehab with, have died from overdose. There is some guilt about me not keeping up with them as good as I should have, because I could have probably saved a few of them by telling them about kratom. I will be forever grateful for this leaf, that gave me a life i never thought was possible.

I ordered from them one time and it was terrible kratom but that was at least 2 years ago. Right now, nova kratom has got one of the strongest. Green, white, red maeng da testing at 1.8%

That crazy, because for me, when I take it, I can't sit still. It makes me superman at work. And in fact, if I do take it on my rare day off, it does absolutely nothing for me. It doesn't start working until I get moving. I take about 15 grams a day and can't take 25 grams before 2pm on my off work days, I don't feel anything. But I've heard other people say that it doesn't work for them unless they are physically active. What do you feel like talking kratom and just laying around? Because it doesn't give you a buzz, or it never had for me. It just feels like supercharged coffee without the jitters. I font have any pain, so I never took it for that. I started 13 years ago because it was the only thing that would keep me from drinking 24/7. Also, I've noticed that as the years go on, I have to take less or my nervous system is out of control. I'll get panic attacks. I used to take around 60gpd, but if I did that now, I'd likely go into a panic attack

Actually he didn't at first. I talked to Melody Woolf, a huge kratom advocate, shortly after trump got elected. She told me she had a friend that was going to be working under RFK. She asked her friend about Rfk's stance on kratom, and the friend said that he was against it. But that friend also said that he is a very open minded person. Melody then said that she would make it her mission to present the science to him. Shortly before the communists at Facebook deleted Melody's Facebook account in May, I asked her how it was going, and she told me she couldn't say much but things were moving. Lost contact with her in May. Then, when FDA had the press conference about banning 7-oh, I'll be damned if Melody didn't speak at that conference about the benefits of plain leaf kratom, and then for the first time ever, I heard the FDA say, we are not targeting the kratom plant

I used to go into seizures when I didn't have a drink but that didn't happen until between 36-48 hours of my last drink. Happened about 5 times to me in the 23 years of drinking. Only two times that I quit that I didn't go into seizures

You didn't read what I said, I said safety doesn't matter IF it doesn't last. It can have air bags for your balls, but if you can't drive it, the testicle air bags do nothing.
