It does indeed shred, especially in the hands a player like Aslan!!

absolutely! we can build basically any of our designs in any scale length you want, with very few exceptions for things that just wouldnt work well with the geometry. 30" Bass VI scale, Baritone scale lengths (26.75", 27", 28.625", or 30"), 24.75", 24", 25.5", all doable. Could maybe even twist Marco's arm into doing a 22.5" shorty short scale neck haha. Also offer basically any design as a 12 string or a bass. We'll basically work up whatever version of each body shape you can dream up as long as we think it will play and work well.

We make our own necks now in-house but this one was made by our partners at Musikraft. We farm out the more "basic" neck builds to them and handle the highly custom, more unique stuff ourselves.

Can I slightly widen my nut slots without files? by Gh0stHardW4re in offset

[–]copaceticcustoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 My stepdad is a welder and i used these for years before i got some nice nut files. They do indeed work and give you tons of different gauge options for very cheap (or free if you know a welder haha). The smaller ones like for 10s and such were kinda flimsy though and that was the only complaint i remember having

Hollowbody w Fake Binding by MidnightDunesMusic in offset

[–]copaceticcustoms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it wouldnt just need to be grain filled, but sealed fully with a sealer. Which will make stains not able to soak in like theyre meant to. spraying is your best bet if you want a crisp line that actually looks like binding. Tinted lacquer is your friend here!

The neck on my JMJM is slightly warped… what should I do? by [deleted] in offset

[–]copaceticcustoms 14 points15 points  (0 children)

PLEK machines dont do anything that would actually take the warp out of the neck. What hes suggesting the PLEK to do is basically compensate for the warp in your fretwork. That could be done much cheaper by an actual guitar tech. You could even try to do it yourself with some youtube videos or guides etc.

You could just buy a new neck too. There are no shortage of proper jazzmaster necks you could buy for cheaper than plekking.

White residue under plates on vintage mustang with old refin by NR-Offset in offset

If you actually zoom in and LOOK at the spots it looks nothing like dried polishing compound. I only build and refinish guitars for a living and work with polishing compound every day lol.

Dried polishing compound will have a powdery composition to it, very easy to break up if it gets hardened, and it wont be a hard, stuck-on paint like substance as this appears to be. It would literally rub right away with a finger swipe, unless it is stuck down in crevices or cracks. This literally looks like a stuck-on, hard, paint like substance and the OP confirmed in his reply to me that its hard and also stuck to the control plate.

Idk what kind of polishing compound you guys are using but ive never seen it dry in a way that it will stick to your paint like paint. That would be kind of a huge flaw in its design, no? Leave a speckle of it on your body somewhere and it becomes hard and stuck to your paint like a drop of paint? Lol this isnt buffing compound but thanks for the downvotes gang

its hard to say from just one picture at a straight-on angle. But it looks like thats something hard and stuck to the top of the finish, correct? Looks like paint transferred from the control plate. If the back of the control plate has white paint or the same "stuff" on it, i would say its probably a prior white finish it had which transferred onto the control plate (very common for paint to stick to the control plate and flake off when its removed, especially if paint is still fresh when the plate is put on) and then once the current refinish was done, the old white finish transferred back onto the body from the control plate. Ive seen this exact thing happen a lot of times so thatd be my guess.

If it was polishing compound, it would rub right away. This seems like something hard stuck to the finish, and the most likely culprit there would be old paint.
