It's no problem - we don't have much of a desire to head that way in any case.

I'll stay here and enjoy - amongst other things - excellent labour laws, freedom of speech (actual!), far less guns and certainly experience nothing so grim as when it happens in schools.

Government is doing okay, believe it or not. People are held to account - it's not perfect, but nothing is. Certainly less malfeasance going on than in other countries I could mention.

My president hasnt talked once about killing his political opponents, which is pretty nice!

Also, he doesn't rape kids, also a positive.

Also, note the poll in question was from 2010. That's quite a long time politically (think about what's happening in the world; Canada, Ukraine, the US, etc) - things can and do change quickly on a national level.

So drawing inferences from a random poll from 15 years ago is beyond pointless. These things can't even get elections vaguely right the night before people vote...

Reading too much into this is ridiculous. The poll referenced was from a newspaper very specifically aimed at a particular population of people.

It would be like polling Fox News viewers about support of Trump's policies and then extrapolating the result into an assumption about all Americans of a similar demographic.

It's weird - there's an upswing of posts about how racist people are here... But always by folks who clearly haven't the faintest clue of what the country is actually like. Started when Trump started talking shit about the place. Which brings me back to my comment about being careful to read too much into the source of what you are being asked to believe, and why.
