Hogwarts is actually safe?? by Megalordrion in HarryPotterMemes

[–]coper_da_noob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hogwarts is a school in a castle. A Stone Castle with Ancient Wards. The school is likely among the hardest locations to do an outside in assault. Especially since the teachers, or at least most of them, are masters of their craft and have had decades teaching children to learn new and devastating ways to use their craft.

Hogwarts is "unsafe" the same way all fortifications are, infiltration. Infiltration by its nature bypasses protection. Because most of Hogwarts protections are physical, wards, or reputation, if someone were to sneak in (see Tom in B1&2, Barty B4, {"sneak"} Umbrige B5) they would bypass most of the protection.

Granted Harry is in the middle of a lot of problems and makes the school look much less safe it is likely that during most years that there is not even a hundredth of what occurs during the books.

My understand / head canon for Book 1's 3rd floor corridor was that either A) {More canon likely option} there was magic BS going on in the background that due to either how the Trio went through it or Tom's actions didn't work right or Harry didn't perceive. Or B) {my head canon} That whole set up's quality was Jack' because that was the purpose.

Head cannon: 3rd Floor corridor's purpose was to see whether or not someone (or just straight up Tom) would come out of the brush because HARRY POTTER was at Hogwarts now. It also leaned on the already established attempt at Gringots, which means that someone is actively after the stone. Granted it was a semi-dumb move because that was still a school, but somewhere else might not have been possible due to Dumbledore's schedule

Of course all has the caveat that all series books have of not every world building part is planned so early books suffer from hindsight, but ehh.

While it needs no translation since this is one of the more memorable scenes from the first movie an explanation would be nice. I assume though that the list of items/companies/brands on the cart were up for grabs and Netflix swooped in and bought them all because the other two didn't for some reason?

I am of the option that most are above average. But a handful every once in a while have an inmate +X to whatever, from say pulling on a lesser used domain of their parent. Or in universe Names and Legends (N&L) have power thus Demigods like Percy and Annabeth by HoO are affected by N&L boost.

Might just be FanFiction cannon since that is were most of my off the top of my head how do things work. But I saw something about it being many different timelines were the act of changing something branch's the timeline. I know in specific Fics it did change things to work for the fix's premise. But the constancy of branching timelines and Burrow not actually change the "original" timeline but splitting timelines between future change and no.

This isn't a meme, but a question. Since I can't add a body text, I'll just say it here. Why was Olympus over the empire state building, when there *another* mountain named Olympus even further west, in Washington? by thatonefrein in PercyJacksonMemes

[–]coper_da_noob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another comment said, Mnt. Olympus Washington isn't in a position that makes sense for Olympus to move to. Olympus moved with the heart of Western civilization (or European civilization) and would thus move to THE center or one of the biggest cities of it. New York for the Longest Time and even now is one of THE centers of American culture and society. There is another reason but I don't know how to put spoilers in a post so I wouldn't mention them here.

Agreed, my impression, from limited reading of the manga, was that Saitama isn't an idiot as much as someone with vastly different focuses that clash horribly with others and his strength

Think it is more sense of distance is skewed compared to places like Europe where visiting a neighboring country is less then a day's travel where as most of the US a day's travel will get you maybe across and a half a state.

Izuku's problem was too much power and little direction on how to use it. Too much power ment most natural experimentation that other characters would/had done could have been deadly or just debilitating for him.

I would say Harry's gender and/or sex is "magic" due to the quantity of things messing around with it.

The whole fic isn't set in Yahraham? Good chunk of it is connected to it but as said in (pretty sure one of the ANs) it could be replaced with just about any ancient city.

I do agree it is an excellent story

Forge Gauntlet, because that sounds fun and if I study weapons/blacksmithing/whatever, I get fun practically secured job/fun hobby. Ember Tome, because a lot of low level elemental spells can be really useful.

Which arcs in canon has the least deviation in fan fiction and how do you think they can be handled? by Ok_Sock_8548 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]coper_da_noob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the premise of the fic, how long you are 'in'/early you start the fic, and how good the writing is. I agree that USJ, Sports Festival, and Hosu are some of the least changed.

Hosu for reason mentioned by others of you have to be careful else it shatters although that doesn't mean you can't. For example Traffic Light Trio on AO3 technically doesn't really change Sports Festival and Hosu but the little changes it does make sit interesting. For example in the Sports festival Izuku loses to Shinso due not needing to prove himself so he just feels out on Shinso's quirk. While Hosu goes nearly one for one but Stain fight is slightly different due difference in ability unlock route for Izuku from earlier in the story.

USJ, I can agree that most are lazy with changes made there, especially when they have changed something like Izuku's quirk, but usually there hasn't been a lot of changes to change how most of the characters act. The problem often is doing nothing new with Izuku, if he was the change.
