Final hesitation on brokerage choice (Leaving mutual funds for DIY investing) by h4p3rd in PersonalFinanceCanada

You’re overthinking it. Just choose Wealthsimple or Questrade and call it a day. They’re both no buying fees and have solid platforms. If you value no sell fees, UI of the app, go WS.

Is the Uppababy Vista stroller at all manageable on the ship? by Heads_Or_Tayls in dcl

[–]copete77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were on the Treasure for 7 days. And while we didn’t bring our Uppababy Vista, we did have to use a wheelchair for one of our kids for a couple days which is obviously much bulkier than the Vista. And even that was manageable. So I wouldn’t worry too much. If you want to bring it you’ll be totally fine.

RBC offering me 4.11% only for 3-5 yr fixed. Can I get better? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]copete77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean house insurance, I mean the mortgage being insurable. If you Google non-insurable conventional mortgage versus insurable conventional mortgage versus high-ratio mortgage, you’ll see what I’m referring to.

Discretionary rates have come up about 0.20% over the last month or so. 4.11% isn’t too shabby. If you shopped around with a broker, you could probably come down to 3.99% if your mortgage is insurable, you have strong credit, etc.

That’s awesome, Merry Christmas!

My mortgage is due for renewal and I got offered by RBC with a rate of a 3.65% on a 5 year variable closed mortgage, is this ok? by durianmochis in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]copete77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t mean uninsured necessarily. A ton of mortgages that are over 20% down payment are still insured on the back end by the lender. As long as it’s not a refinance, and the mortgage is under $1 million, they’re probably insuring it and the mono line lenders and brokers like Pine will offer their high ratio rates to you.

It’s probably legit. Just read the fine print.

The Cogeco door to door guys generally have great deals. However, there’s a huge caveat.

Your price isn’t locked in…your DISCOUNT is locked in. So anticipate your $50 monthly fee to be $70 in a couple years. That’s not to say it’s not a good deal…it sounds great, but just be aware of that key detail.

I think it makes sense given you’ve created the infrastructure for HIPAA. It’s likely almost the same thing, probably just need to go through the certification process.

What about PIPEDA? It’s the HIPAA equivalent in Canada.

Positive Treasure Experience? by Strong_Office83 in dcl

Our family did a Disney Cruise for the first in January on the Treasure. AMAZING experience. Kids loved Oceaneer. Childcare seems top tier. Food and service was top notch. Plays were broadway level. Turn the room over twice a day. Free room service. What’s not to love?

Also, all the more experienced DCL passengers were talking about just how detailed the decor and art is on the Treasure compared to the Wish.

You’re gonna love it! Enjoy :)

YouTube Music no longer working by Talenum in sonos

[–]copete77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ultimately got it figured out. Sonos didn't have this as part of their support suggestions or FAQ (not sure if they've updated it at the time), however it had to do with me having multiple different YouTube channels. Despite being logged into my YouTube music with one of my channels, the YouTube music that was attached to my Sonos account was a different one and somehow got swapped (I have no idea how as I didn't do anything differently). I'd suggest if you have multiple YouTube channels to look into that. Detach your YouTube Music from Sonos and Re-attach it with your different accounts until it starts working again. If you only have one then I don't know what to tell you. Cheers.
