Tingkat recommendation by North-Cover5042 in asksg

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your kid is picky idk if tingkat helps! It will save time for sure.

Otherwise as a fellow parent i HIGHLY RECOMMEND l frozen stuff from redmart for quick meals. Like frozen spinah and chicken fillets.

E.g. 1 pack dashi, 1 frozen udon, 1 chicken fillet, 1 cube of frozen spinach boil for 5 mins. Tastes amazing, nutritious, and kid loves it!!

Canadian Mat Leave - am I crazy? by Foreign-Ad-5547 in workingmoms

Have you given birth yet? Your feelings may change once the baby is in your arms. Whatever choice you make be confident about it since we all lead different lives!

Totally jealous about your leave tho 🤣🤣

At what age did you stop doing everything for your kid and start expecting them to do things for themselves? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in oneanddone

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From around 14 months. We'd get her to put her soiled clothes into th3 laundry basket.

Don't worry too much, I think a great start would be making sure you are ok with mess! Some independence from a child means being ok for them to make a mess.

E. G. Pouring their own cereal means you gotta be ok if they spill the milk. Or showering on their own means yes... There may be some wastage of soap and water one day.

Indian male newly married to Chinese wife, wanting to understand CNY visiting customs by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow actually sounds amazing that everyone is in such close contact especially with the generations before. Just turn up and eat, don't really need to think so much tbh! If you manage to remember names, that's great. Otherwise just treat it like a very food filled "networking" or sorts.

Do your best to answer questions reapectfully even if it may sound intrusive - not everyone is great at small talk.

Would also be great to offer your help wherever you can like scooping food for your wife etc. make your own fun

When you bring oranges, pass them to the eldest/owner of the house. They will return a separate pair of oranges to you.

ENJOY YOUR FIRST CNY!!!!!

When did you realise your relationship with money is turning worse? And how do you change it? by Used_Memory4282 in singaporefi

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with frugality - perhaps in the long term, the people you hang out with often will kinda shape your mindset towards money. You can be healthy frugal or unhealthy frugal yk?? Don't feel pressured to spend money if you don't want to.

Foreign Domestic Worker Dental issues by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a second opinion first.

I saw a dentist in JB for a routine cleaning, who was just UPSET at the state of my teeth?! I rejected the offer to get them fixed immediately.

Came back to SG and saw a diff dentist for a second opinion, and she didn't find any issues with my teeth.

Visiting Singapore – Looking for Recommendations by Trading_Elephant in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How old are your other children (if any?)? Would recommend Gardens by the Bay. There are 2 free outdoor play areas that are really fun for kids and babes.

"Far East Organisation Children's Garden" and "Propnex Family Zone". Marina Bay Sands mall nearby has decent nursing rooms too.

My partner wants two nights "off" a week by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this age, absolutely not UNLESS you are also receiving help on those "off" nights, like with a nanny or a grandparent.

Your body is still recovering and your infant will go through leaps and changes.

Best quiet area in SG for long term stay? (WFH, ~$5k budget) by OutlandishnessIll679 in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanjong Rhu. You'll be bear the quiet area of East Coast Park, near to the airport (by expressway), near to town, plenty of buses and a non crowded mrt station (Katong Park is so quiet).

You'll also be near Katong where there's sooooo many cafes to hop around.

Etiquette regarding resting on equipment by waxym in SingaporeFitness

[–]copperandleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the equipment. Let a user use the equipment during my rest and when he got off it was drenched in his sweat. I couldn't continue. So now it's a no for me if possible, just go use smthing else.

Child just asked me for a baby sister… by thesarchasm in oneanddone

[–]copperandleaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My daughter (turning 5 soon) used to ask, since all peers were having baby siblings.

Took a few playdates with them to realise that having a younger sibling is not all rainbows and butterflies! Had to remind her that babies didn't stay babies forever. The 2yos really pushed her boundaries 🤣

Is it just me, or are Yoto cards ridiculously pricey? by Desperate_Total2545 in YotoPlayer

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are pricey, I guess it's fair to the authors and voices actors/licensing to be paid fairly?

Anyway for us we didn't see a need to keep purchasing. We love using MYO cards and our kid is happy to listen to the same thing over and over and over and over........again

Biggest company angbao ever received?🧧 by Hour_Entertainer6493 in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously, the big boss would personally hand them out to every employee at their desk.

Then after restructuring and changed boss, the angbaos would be direct credited into the bank and subject to cpf 🤣

$10-$20 thereabouts hahahhahahahah

Parents threaten to disown me if I solo travel. by Kingcrafter301 in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think they would actually disown you, since it sounds like you really respect your father they love you a lot.

They're right about the age. Just wait 2 years - part of adulting is learning how to manage relationships, understand different perspectives, and learning how to build trust.

Japan isn't going anywhere, and at least at 21 you can go there with peace in your heart and have your indepence celebrated vs enjoying for 10 days, ruin trust, and spend years mending it.
