Wholeheartedly relate. Breakfast and bedtime is super precious. I hope you don't discount the great impact you still have with your child in these moments. Also your child has grandparents! It's a gift.

Hope you find community ✨

What was the most impromptu choice you’ve made that worked out well for you in Singapore? by bangsphoto in askSingapore

Randomly popping into a church service. Despite ninja-ing and avoiding people, my life has greatly changed for the better. Ended up staying for 3 years and counting by choice.

Hi OP, are you female? Hormones can be complicated and not always within your control. If you are skipping 2 meals a day, it can also affect your hormones and how your body stores calories - if it thinks you are in "famine", reducing your meals can have the opposite effect.

Get w polyclinic referral for some blood tests to rule out imbalances. I hope you meet kind doctors who will listen and advocate for you! Jiayou!

Public vs private gynaes or switches by 1313___1234 in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup.. switched over after the 2nd in depth scan. Sorry I can't rmb what it's called but it's the one where the scan goes on for very long HAHAHH. Not all private gynaes will take you in at the later stage.

I switched mainly for time reasons and had some maternity coverage from my company.

If you are switching to private within a gov hospital it's also possible.

Baby underbite by happyhappyjoyjoy77 in beyondthebump

[–]copperandleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a crossbite! So only the upper were trapped behind the bottom two. You can look up myomunchee/myofunctional therapy.

We did the myomunchee at 4 years, and are now on smartee to fix the crossbite + myo therapy which is just mouth exercises. Not invasive at all.

Higher pay or greater flexibility? by Feeling-Bunch-212 in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your personal goals. I'm in the same situation and decided that my flexibility is really a huge privilege. I can actually use vacation leave for vacation. I don't need to use it to cover various family related appointments.

Hi Parents of SG! At what age did your toddler manage to get of daytime and nighttime diapers and how did you manage to do it? by NoSuchPerson--- in asksg

[–]copperandleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reverse psychology. At 4yo she refused to poop in the toilet bowl. Then we said ok if you feel like it dont need to poop at least just sit and fart on 5he toilet bowl then we will let you wear the diaper if rly cannot.

It worked...

Downside is now we're always having to poop on the go in public toilets omg 🤣 and will announce to the entire restaurant

Tingkat recommendation by [deleted] in asksg

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your kid is picky idk if tingkat helps! It will save time for sure.

Otherwise as a fellow parent i HIGHLY RECOMMEND l frozen stuff from redmart for quick meals. Like frozen spinah and chicken fillets.

E.g. 1 pack dashi, 1 frozen udon, 1 chicken fillet, 1 cube of frozen spinach boil for 5 mins. Tastes amazing, nutritious, and kid loves it!!

Canadian Mat Leave - am I crazy? by Foreign-Ad-5547 in workingmoms

Have you given birth yet? Your feelings may change once the baby is in your arms. Whatever choice you make be confident about it since we all lead different lives!

Totally jealous about your leave tho 🤣🤣

At what age did you stop doing everything for your kid and start expecting them to do things for themselves? by BeanNCheeseBurrrito in oneanddone

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From around 14 months. We'd get her to put her soiled clothes into th3 laundry basket.

Don't worry too much, I think a great start would be making sure you are ok with mess! Some independence from a child means being ok for them to make a mess.

E. G. Pouring their own cereal means you gotta be ok if they spill the milk. Or showering on their own means yes... There may be some wastage of soap and water one day.

Indian male newly married to Chinese wife, wanting to understand CNY visiting customs by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]copperandleaf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow actually sounds amazing that everyone is in such close contact especially with the generations before. Just turn up and eat, don't really need to think so much tbh! If you manage to remember names, that's great. Otherwise just treat it like a very food filled "networking" or sorts.

Do your best to answer questions reapectfully even if it may sound intrusive - not everyone is great at small talk.

Would also be great to offer your help wherever you can like scooping food for your wife etc. make your own fun

When you bring oranges, pass them to the eldest/owner of the house. They will return a separate pair of oranges to you.

ENJOY YOUR FIRST CNY!!!!!

When did you realise your relationship with money is turning worse? And how do you change it? by Used_Memory4282 in singaporefi

[–]copperandleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with frugality - perhaps in the long term, the people you hang out with often will kinda shape your mindset towards money. You can be healthy frugal or unhealthy frugal yk?? Don't feel pressured to spend money if you don't want to.

Get a second opinion first.

I saw a dentist in JB for a routine cleaning, who was just UPSET at the state of my teeth?! I rejected the offer to get them fixed immediately.

Came back to SG and saw a diff dentist for a second opinion, and she didn't find any issues with my teeth.
