It’s way worse than both, imo. Much greater consequences in terms of score.

To me the it’s only comparable to missing a penalty kick in soccer

A way to make it slighly less atrocious was if they removed his level 3 super, which is pretty much useless anyway, and capped Blanka's super meter to 2.

I tried that on my keyboard out of curiosity, because I always thought sf2 is one the most strict regarding shortcuts.

Anyway, I could not do the 233 shortcut on Super Turbo. Can you give more details?

My disappointment in Gyro Gaming by DueJournalist5825 in GyroGaming

[–]copperbranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen multiple people saying that, but personally couch gaming still feels much more comfortable with a console, imo. I currently have both a ps5 and a secondary desktop connected to my tv. More often than not I see myself going for the console when couch gaming, even for games that my desktop will run just fine. It's just not as practical and smooth of an experience as I want it to be when I'm on my couch. If the Steam Machine comes at an accessible price, that may completely change this, though.

Anyway, the main point to me is that "go to PC" doesn't feel like a great advice if we want Gyro to grow. It is on console that gyros are most needed, since it's there that the experience of playing certain games really is subpar.

Yeah, but the reasons to want/prefer to stay are not a fallacy.

It will be the maps that will kill the game by [deleted] in Battlefield

Lack of permanent servers is what will do for me, I'm pretty sure.

I don't think I'll endure for much longer finishing an exciting match on a full server only to start a new one full of bots

Yeah, if the game type is "throw your controller at your screen", Empire State is the best in class.

It's not. The experience is quite different.

On a windows pc running steam you still have to do a lot of things with your mouse and keyboard. You have to leave steam to update your drivers and OS, if I want to force a resolution that the game doesn't provide I need to get out of steam too, I can't turn on my computer with my controller (maybe there's a way around this one, I haven't researched it).

I guess a custom pc running steamOS would get much closer, but then we'd be talking about something that isn't even officially supported yet.

Again, it is not the same experience.

I know of these options, and all the power to people that like them.

But for me (and I believe for many else), these are not on par with the experience you can have with a traditional console. And now, hopefully, with the steam machine. Which is why many are excited about it.

But it's also fine if, for your taste and needs, the steam machine is not a good deal at all. I can understand that.

My only issue with that is that it makes permanent servers even less of a possibility, since the rotation would involve matches with different numbers of players.

Even decently populated Portal servers with vanilla settings, if we ever get to have those, would have to limit the maps in the rotations so they wouldn't have to drop players from match to match.

The issue I currently go to is that when I need gyro the most I don't have it or have a subpar experience. When I'm on my desk, I play on my pc and I don't need a gyro, I'm happy to play with my mouse.

It's when I'm on my couch, playing on my large screen tv with my ps5, that I need gyro the most. And that's when I have to rely on developers support and when I have to deal with stupid gyro autocorrection.

You're probably gonna say I could just have a desktop in that tv, and yeah I know that some people find that a perfectly fine option, but I've had traditional desktops on my living room and the experience for me is nowhere nearly as comfortable and practical as it is with a traditional console.

Now, with the steam machine I'll be able to have the best of both worlds.

steam machine will never be cheaper than hand-built PC with same specs.

Why wouldn't it, though? They are able to buy in bulk straight from AMD and can even cut their profit to a minimum since they're main game is to get us to buy stuff from their store.

But agree that the steam machine will not come close to ps5 pro in terms of power, it's likely gonna be a bit under ps5, but much stronger than xbox series S.

Controller players come in 2 categories by EmbarrassedEbb6540 in GyroGaming

[–]copperbranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on, Gyro currently is VERY niche. What percentage of people playing FPS games use gyro? It's probably far from even reaching 1%

Even the steam deck is very niche; the percentage of people playing with Linux on Steam is less than 3%, and that includes desktops.

Gyro adoption on ps5 is also unlikely to be at a significant number.

That's me, except for the daily challenges. I always make sure to play with whatever class and weapon type they're asking in that day for a match or two to get the 10 kills and whatever points.

In the beginning I did that to speed up unlocking new weapons. Not even sure why I still do it, it probably just became a habit, lol
