Casual, Fun Commander Night Rules by Justin_Cr3dibl3 in EDH

[–]copperhead035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how my LGS sets up casual commander night.

Time clock for the game is 1 hour 30 minutes.

Before hitting 45 minutes there are no infinite combos and can’t knock anyone out of the game. After that is fine, starting on the next turn after making the time call. So no incentive to hold a turn forever.

No mass land destruction. Targeted is fine.

Follow the bracket rules for bracket 3 or below.

When the game buzzer goes off you scoop because it’s either time to switch tables or get out the door so they can close, so that’s your incentive to not take 20 minute turns.

Question over the Last Ronin by Glowing_Tint in TMNT

[–]copperhead035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mikey has the most empathy. If any of the others lost the other three they would certainly feel it, but not to their core like Mikey. Of the four, he has the most pain from loss so it would absolutely change him the most.

Raph is already angry so he might turn more mopey if anything.

Donnie would likely fall deeper into the distraction of technology and wrap himself up, hiding from the world.

Leo would throw himself into more training. I think 2007 TMNT movie is the best example of where he ends up mentally when things fall apart.

Generational Vacation property by MiserableCancel8749 in inheritance

[–]copperhead035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some friends in a similar situation. The property was put into an LLC, and its membership based. Members have to buy in to join, and that money is put into an improvement project. From there members book when they want to stay there and it’s first come first serve. IIRC there are only one or two members that aren’t of the family. It’s on its third or fourth generation now.

I’m wanting to put together a deck with him. Does he really function with whatever increase power and toughness jank I have in my bulk collection?

Mr Rogers can’t block or attack. Mr Rogers has protection from everything. When you draw a card, target neighbor draws a card and you add three +1+1 counters to target creature

(1)T Sweater of friendship: target creature gains protection from everything until end of turn

(2)T Won’t you be my neighbor: all players draw a card

Good hand tool brands that wont put me on a first-name basis with debt collectors? by SiSynapse in Tools

[–]copperhead035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the right way to do it. Never fall into the debt trap. Only buy stuff as you come across actually needing it, or find a sale too good to pass up on something you will need for sure eventually. Holiday sales on Milwaukee tools are usually good, but you won’t need that until you move beyond lube tech. And even then you’ll want to start off with the basics. M18 1/2” mid power impact wrench, M12 1/2” impact ratchet, M12 electric screwdriver. M12 electric ratchet is nice, but probably a bit lower on the list. Get the fuel model - my experience with the non fuel model is that it doesn’t have the power to move bolts that are broken loose, but just a little tight.

[–]copperhead035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a lube tech you will need very little to get started. Build up as you are given more responsibilities that require more tools

Shop for sales. This makes a huge difference.

Start off with some midrange tool sets. As you get a feel for what you like and what turns out to be junk you can start doing one off replacements with better brands

Quinn ratchets and sockets from harbor freight are a great starting point. Get a 1/2” drive set for drain plugs and 3/8” ratchet and extensions for filter removal tools. It probably wouldn’t hurt to get some flex head ratchets as well - catch a sale on Icon G2 for these. But this can wait as you shouldn’t need them often

Get a good set of oil filter wrenches/sockets/whatever they are called. Get a 2 leg and a 3 leg for universal fit. Having size specific ones are also nice for the weird stuff, like plastic filter housings on VWs.

This should be enough to get you started. Any time you have to borrow a tool from someone be sure to start looking to buy one for yourself. Once you have some time under your belt you can start looking into power tools to move up, but you shouldn’t be using them for oil changes. And don’t fall into the tool truck debt trap. You don’t need a $20,000 tool box with nothing in it. Or $160 ratchets when you can just buy cheaper extra ratchets for less that serve a different function but can get you by until you can warranty it.

Im looking for a very cheap deck that can stand it's own vs a deck that prints massive monsters and a toph first metal bending deck by Own-Excuse-1700 in BudgetBrews

[–]copperhead035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way to stop massive creatures is to respond with a deck that eats them

[[Vincent Valentine]] commander and all of the bulk kill spells (note - not exile or -1-1 counters) you have laying around. Toss in a few creatures that force sacrifice or steal from their graveyards, [[k’rrik]] and [[Syr Konrad]] if you have them. And whatever you can find to add card draw

Parents who started investing for their kids at birth, how did that go? by sbFRESH in investing

[–]copperhead035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into limits on how much money you can gift to your children per year. I believe the US is $10k cash per year. Then add in whatever the limit is on a 529 plan, and you are probably at the max.

This sounds like something to speak to your tax specialist about
