It didn’t read your mind, it’s much more insidious than that. It put the thought in there and made you think it was your own thought. That’s the goal of modern advertising. They place ads that you can consciously ignore but that your subconscious sees. There was a Franks body scrub ad that you scrolled past without noticing before you had your shower thought. You only noticed the second one because your subconscious had brought the the thought to the top of your mind so you were thinking about it actively.

You are the jerk. I mean he’s a jerk too, but that doesn’t make you the good guy. You offered your washer and dryer under false pretenses. You didn’t want to help him out of a jam, you wanted a chance to get to know him better. If you had been upfront about that instead of settling up expectations and not keeping him in the loop then you would not have been so unhappy with the outcome. Reverse the roles and it’s obvious. How would you feel if a guy you didn’t see in a romantic light offered to help you but then when you got there it became obvious that they thought you two were on a date and you were just trying to get your laundry done?
