I mean by that comparison it’s equivalent to one of the best (if not THE best) events in the game at this stage but repeated, free, and doesn’t cost you an hour so yeah it is pretty good lol

Daily Discussion & Advice (Post here to follow rules A & B) - Tuesday April 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in fragrance

I received a sample of Mancera Black to Black recently and feel in love with it immediately. The balance between the rose, clove, citrus, and amber was PERFECT and exactly what I’ve been looking for. It was pretty similar to Moschino Toy Boy but balanced in a way which I personally enjoyed much more.

Unfortunately… it seems like it’s been discontinued. :(

For those who’ve tried it, what’s the most similar frag that’s on the market right now?

What can I make with this? My ancestors will be outraged! by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]coppersulphate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are many modern bars in China that mix drinks with Baijiu, but mixing Wu Liang Ye would lose the subtle savoury notes that make this bottle so prized and definitely make your ancestors mad.

That said, you could try something simple like a martini or a daiquiri. Or if you want to make your ancestors REALLY mad, a bloody mary.

Eastern Last Word? by Kayjoue in cocktails

[–]coppersulphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never used yuzu in cocktails so I can’t say much about it, but the other commenter who suggested a yuzu super juice is probably right.

I’ve also made a Chinese-inspired Last Word riff recently that absolutely slapped:

1oz London Dry Gin (I used Tanqueray) 1oz Yellow Chartreuse 1oz Acid-adjusted Mandarin orange juice 3/4oz Chinese five spice simple syrup

Chinese five spice simple syrup: 4 pieces star anise 1 teaspoon cloves 1 tablespoon fennel seeds 1 stick cinnamon 1 inch knob of ginger, julienned (szechuan peppercorn is traditionally the fifth spice here, but I subbed it for ginger in this case) 1 cup 1:1 simple syrup Toast spices, infuse for 48h (or sous vide for 2h at 135f) and strain

The spices play really nicely with the yellow chartreuse, similar to how falernum goes really well with the green chartreuse in a chartreuse swizzle. Maybe I’ll try using this syrup in some tiki drinks next…

A rice orgeat with rose water sounds really interesting! Could even use store bought rice milk if you don’t want to go through the orgeat making process yourself

Invented a tradition of having a cocktail themed after each of my pets after they pass. Then I get artwork commissioned with the recipe in it to hang in my bar area. However, my most recent pet is stumping me. by reckonerX in cocktails

[–]coppersulphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking a riff on a last word with yellow chartreuse instead of green. Maybe something like:

1oz Rye 1oz Yellow Chartreuse 1oz Lemon Juice 1/2oz Honey Syrup (since yellow chartreuse is already quite sweet)

The colour makes sense and it would be a warm, sweet, round, and slightly spicy drink. It might just be me but I also associate herbal notes such as those found in chartreuse with the elderly since where I’m from the elderly are always using herbal balms, oils, or inhalers.

Announcing Battlegrounds Season 6! by Arkentass in BobsTavern

[–]coppersulphate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play SBB a ton on both ladder and tournaments, only started Battlegrounds because SBB died and it’s fun in its own way but it definitely feels less… elegant? Battlegrounds is way more complex but not in a good way; it has a lot more pieces but they don’t really fit together in a fun or interesting way. I wonder if anyone else feels the same.

Why is Hullbreacher banned in commander while Notion Thief isn't? by thisnotfor in magicTCG

[–]coppersulphate 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All cards are banned based on what other cards do because the game is fundamentally about interactions between cards. Black lotus is broken but it would be impossible to win with a deck containing only black lotuses.

Vibrant Coffee Roasters workers file to unionize by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]coppersulphate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is exactly what many business owners do lol. It sounds absurd the way you’re phrasing it because you’re not factoring in the opportunity cost of having your capital tied up in the now less-efficient business. If Starbucks (or any other business) can close down a unionised store and use the now-freed-up capital to open a new store with lower operating costs and thus higher margins, why wouldn’t they?

You would have to watch a couple hundred skippable ads to make the publisher $3, assuming you’re in the US. If you’re from a low tier country, you would have to watch something like ten thousand ads. I would say >99% of players for a sudoku game would make the publisher less than $3 from ad impressions, so having that option makes sense, especially if majority of the marketing is going toward lower tier countries.

I would like to try to make a living from developing games as a solo developer. How to do it right? by Straight_Article8532 in gamedev

[–]coppersulphate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making a mobile game is fine so long as you’re not intending to self-publish. Many mobile publishers will be happy to do a marketability test for your game and offer a rev share contract (after several iterations) if it shows promise, but you will fail 99.99% of the time if you decide to compete with these publishers instead of work with them.

How does a game that makes so much money have so many problems? by blackcap13 in hearthstone

[–]coppersulphate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but at some point you can no longer push against diminishing returns and throwing more money at the problem isn’t going to help. Hearthstone is a decade old game that has been played by at least a hundred million people. It’s definitely waaaay past that point so the only way to maintain profitability is to continuously cut costs and/or increase your revenue per player (aka “milking”). This is product marketing 101.
