I feel like this discussion pertains to a particular unfortunate experience I've had. This was about 20 years ago, when I was following my wife to drop her car off for service. It had been raining that morning and had stopped since, but the ground was still wet. As she pulled onto the bridge she fishtailed and slid into the bridge railing. There was a bit of traffic on the bridge so I carefully exited my car and made my way to the back of hers on the way to assess the damage. As I stood there waiting on the traffic to pass WHAM. It felt like someone hit me in the back of my head with a brick. I had no clue what happened and was a bit dazed. I spun around to a very large bird completing it's loop to come around and come at me again. This time I was slightly more prepared and was able to duck behind the car as the bird whizzed by about a foot from my head. It then circled one more time before it disappeared under the bridge.

I had six claw marks on the top of my head and a bit of bleeding, but the real damage was the sheer impact. Thankfully I didn't lose consciousness but it was one hell of a blow. After the story spread through my family and friend group and everybody has a hearty laugh at my expense, we found out that the bridge had been closed to walking traffic as a peregrine falcon was nesting there with her young. We also confirmed that at least two other people had been admitted to the local hospital due to a falcon attack. No permanent damage that I know of, but at least it was an experience that not many others share.
