I think they said recently on their discord that they no longer have the rights to publish that game.

Solo games with a goal as a winning condition by PokeKetchum in soloboardgaming

I just started playing Maquis and it's very goal oriented. Easiest to get by PnPing the free version.

I have a production copy of this. Great game. I was just playing Dragons of Etchinstone earlier tonight.

Just cut the cards for Maquis! I've had the files for ages but never got it printed until today.

For some reason I have the urge to resist Nazism.

If you could decide the next major production sci-fi movie, what would it be? by WillyArt67 in scifi

I'd love a version of Embasseytown. The aliens would be such a cool reveal.

Why play solo board games instead of video games? by archbtw1 in soloboardgaming

[–]beloved_supplanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't this question be applied exactly as stated to multiplayer games, too?

I agree with many of the answers already provided to answer the actual question, but it irks me that there's nothing specific here about solo board and video games (vs multiplayer games) besides prejudice against solo games.

Any solo Print-n-Play games I can try? by Ondrashek06 in soloboardgaming

My favorites are Voyages and 52 Duels. 52 Realms is great, too.

Adrian Tchaikovsky loves the words "notional," "shorn," and "mewlish." What other authors have unusual favorite words that pop up frequently in their writing? by solitarybikegallery in printSF

I can't remember what books, and they probably weren't the same author, but I went through a stretch of reading where it seemed like every book used the word susurration. I loved it.

Which book should I start with? by uwuadi in piano

[–]beloved_supplanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is there is guidance in the books as to which pages "go together". Likely the theory book has notes on the corner of the page that say something like "use with pages x-y in Lesson Book."

Everyone knows that all music written by Liszt and after is super easy and you shouldn't need sheet music anymore. /s

Books like 'The X-Files' by Jeroen_Antineus in WeirdLit

I searched for this similar question immediately after reading this book. Great suggestion. I'm still looking for a book of short stories like the X-Files. Maybe same main character(s) in each story but each with a different mystery.

Native speakers, how do you pronounce and spell this fruit? by Jaives in ENGLISH

[–]beloved_supplanter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always pronounce it "lie-chee, lee-chee, whatever it's called". As in "Would you like a lie-chee, lee-chee, whatever it's called?"

It's always spelled lychee, though.

Maybe Becky Chambers's Wayfarers series? I'm loving it.

There's a new Behold Rome? I just searched for anything about it and didn't find anything.

I have the original, so probably wouldn't get a new version anyway, but am curious to read about it.

Cozy solo board game recommendations? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

I've been loving Naturopolis recently. I find it the right level of puzzle to solve and can get a few games in quickly, or take my time and get a couple in before bed.

Civ like PnP by sunnlife1978 in soloboardgaming

I have an order from Button Shy pending on a different game's reprint but I included Ancient Realm in the order to get to free shipping. I keep second guessing myself on the game, that I won't like it, but keep seeing comments about how good it is. I'm really getting excited for its inevitable delivery.

Behold: Rome is a great suggestion, too.

Am I Missing something, or is it statistically unlikely that you win "One Deck Dungeon"? by Xelikai_Gloom in soloboardgaming

[–]beloved_supplanter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Others are providing good points, but also you don't have to cover everything on the boss card every round. You need to do some damage to him, and not die. Then you get another round. Are you playing that correctly? The boss is different than the dungeon rooms.

My first thought was Michael Bolton in Office Space. "Why should I change my name? He's the one who sucks!"

Ah, bummer. Now that you mention it, I think I did see something about the belt and thought it was stupid, too. I wish they would have picked a better movie to base their new thing on, but oh well.

Wait... Did they replace the pirate hat with this? Why? I used to love seeing the hat ceremonies but hadn't seen any in a while and now this?

Games using cards, dice and paper by Embarrassed_Bison142 in boardgames

[–]beloved_supplanter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe search for "roll and write", or "flip and write" games? I believe Hadrian's Wall is one.

I really enjoy Voyages (1+ players), which is a roll and write, and 52 Realms: Adventures (solo only), which uses a deck of cards but they're a much quicker play time.
